Having treated 100s of these conditions , and sadly some that go into cardiac arrest in front of you, this article might assist to explain the differences and misconceptions that lay people might have etc

If a patient is talking in mono syllables ( only 1 word at a time ) its life threatening, and you have minutes perhaps

( Remember Asthma has the same pathophysiology , but it is contained in the pulmonary tree only )

Never heard of this before, lucky the child had a parent with an EPIPEN on board

Great that you started a thread on this, many people I believe don't know the first thing about it, or the treatment.

In short, an allergy is a local reaction involving Histamine release. Anaphylaxis is when the Histamine enters the circulation.

I was only reading about the Epipen last night on the RPS site. Pfizer overcharging by $1.2bn over 10 years coz of incorrect classification.

Do the 'Rescue' services here carry Epipens?
