Hua Hin.
Re: Hua Hin.
The Hilton hotel right next to the night life soi , google maps and street view will give you an idea of an area to stay..its on the beach.
Cheap places to stay..near the Hilton.

Re: Hua Hin.
The area called Bintabaht is the best for what you are seeking. It is located between Hwy 4 and the beach. Many hotels. Many bars and restaurants.
See map: https://www.google.co.th/maps/@12.56877 ... authuser=0
Soi 61 toward the beach runs right in front of the large police HQ and takes you to Bintabaht. I don't think you will be disappointed. Please note that the soi numbers do not match up across from each other on Hwy 4. What is Soi 61 on the east side will be another number directly across. Don't ask me why that is, but it confused me a few years back. I have to consult the map just about every time I go if I am crossing the highway.
Good luck.

Add the many beautiful beaches of Hua Hin, to the vibrant night life, and it is beyond my understanding why, (unattached! ), holiday makers continue to choose the crowded, less than safe, Samui ; the noisy, unhealthy and expensive environment of Bangkok; or the tatty bars and smelly dirty beaches of Pattaya, as their first choice holiday venues. That, such holiday makers would choose to holiday in Udonthani, ( an ideal venue for long term expats, rather than a holiday venue), is even more inexplicable.
Re: Hua Hin.
Thanks, Guys will look at some places in the areas mentioned some good info. My days of going to Phuket. Patts are over due to their greed and attacks on Tourists is a major no no for me.
Re: Hua Hin.
Billy, Sadly IMO Hua-Hin is The " New Pattaya " NOT Sure about crime on tourists,But the Beach Ain't what it used to be....
Re: Hua Hin.

Re: Hua Hin.
I blame the fact that Pattersites (or should that be parasites) can now get to Hua Hin by boat from the sewer :-&
Re: Hua Hin.
I've always had a great time in the Hua Hin / Cha-am area. Never an issue. Never a problem. An isolated incident here and there doesn't keep me from BKK or anywhere else in Thailand. No reason to stay away from HH/ChA unless bombs and beatings of falangs by nationals becomes a pattern. Don't see any pattern.
Since I was raised on the beach, not so keen on beaches anymore. Never even looked at the beach in HH, but I hear from others that it ain't so hot and that Cha-am's beach is better. I don't know if it's better in Cha-am. Just sharing the info.

Re: Hua Hin.
Timmy crimes against tourists in Patts are daily you only have to look at Patayya One news it's not even safe taking a walk in case a jumper lands on you. Patong has been open Season for years with no arrests and the Taxi drivers and Mafia given the green light to attack anyone who questions them when they're ripping you off. I don't think HH is in their league yet.
Re: Hua Hin.
Celebrated my big 70th. birthday in Hua Hin Last year, Family over from UK, we rented 2 Villas outside of town, not cheap but excellent amenities.1 Highlight was a visit to the Wineyards (their spelling) in the Hills to the west, great food and wine, well worth a visit. 30+ guests at the birthday bash held at "Mai Mon" restaurant Farang friendly. All in all HH a great place to visit, been there half a dozen times and enjoyed every visit. Plenty to see and do. A Golfer's Paradise, or so they tell me. Enjoy your visit, look forward to reading your views in the future It's always good to hear psitive comments about LOS resort destinations.
Re: Hua Hin.

Re: Hua Hin.
I like Hua Hin, but its the getting there that's the hassle, - a long road journey, or an even longer train journey.
A shame no flights directly in from overseas!!

Re: Hua Hin.
A flight to Don Muang then a coupla hours road trip. Not too shabby!
Re: Hua Hin.
not sure about times now but a few years ago , you could get the first flight out of Udon about 7 am/ish i think it was " Nok air " to Don Muang get down to Victory monument then the " crazy " mini bus ride " at 170 baht " to Chan am then Hua hin , getting there around 12 lunch time .
Re: Hua Hin.
Vlad....good info from Lone Star.
That area will do fine for your interests and budget. HH beach is total crap, and I won't even walk on it barefooted. Unless you enjoy the smell of horse piss, as that's all you smell entering the beach of 61. Southern end is OK, at big Buddha, but without transport, you won't bother, and the taxi mafia is a rip. Limited time any way, as building a huge resort there now.
Anyone else familiar with HH, the crap vendors (smile / moon, etc) that use to offer overpriced bland local fare have finally been move out from behind Wat HH, on Poon Suk
Cha Am if entertaining any beach time, though if coming over soon, wrong season. Water is not clear, and jellies are starting to appear along the whole Gulf. Not sure what the nightlife is there though, and HH would be good choice for that. Very low key compared to Patts and Patong, but a good thing.
No hotel recommendations on that side of town, as I used to avoid, but plenty to choose from. Train would be my choice to get there, or limo van. Taxi is a few thousand baht, not a fan of buses, which leave from southern terminal, along with most limo vans, which can be a right pain in the arse to get to and from in bkk. Why I would take the train.
Once there, HH, everything is in walking distance or baht buses, I think. New Bluport Mall has nice food court, but that's about it, and down a ways.
ENJOY

The Thais opt for Cha'am as a favourite seaside spot
