Gobsmacked yet again !!

Pudits are now saying we need VAR ......... they have to be bl**dy joking

What we NEED is more Assistant referee's like Eddie Smart who have the bottle to say to the ref "I saw something you obviously didnt and I'm going to tell you that you have made a CLEAR AND OBVIOUS ERROR"

Who needs VAR when the Assistants are actually doing their job

Watford 4 -1 Chelsea
The visitors played an hour with 10 men & the hosts crammed 3 into the last 6 minutes to increase the pressure already on Conte.
With Spurs now only a point behind Chelsea & with a better goal difference the club are in danger of missing out on that all important European spot.
It also represents a huge win for Watford & their hopes of remaining in the Premiership - up to 11th. in the table, but that does only represent 2 wins away from the drop zone..

Everton striker Wayne Rooney will be joining Jamie Carragher on Monday Night Football...Not only will Rooney be analysing the game, but he will be discussing all the big talking points in the Premier League
As an example of the type of informative and intelligent contributions to which we will be treated by Rooney, his first gem of a forecast was to express his opinion that Harry Kane might well leave Spurs at some time in the future, if the club did not start winning trophies and did not improve his contract terms. Wow! =D>
Now why didn't anyone else think of that possibility!

On the subject of forecasting: Round 27 EPL.
.........................Mat.
Spurs v Arsenal..... 2-1.
Everton v Palace....1-1.
Stoke v Brighton....1-2.
Swansea v Burnley..2-0.
WHU v Watford......2-2.
City v Leicester......3-1.
Hudd'fd v Bourn'th...0-2.
Newcastle v Utd.....0-3.
South'ton v Livpool..1-3.
Chelsea v WBA.......3-0.

Round 26 results:
  Statts 2 correct results, including 1 correct score. Mat 3 correct results 0 correct scores.
It seems that clubs such as Burnley, Bournemouth, Brighton & Swansea are suddenly over performing notwithstanding the embarrassment they are causing us, just for the selfish reason they want to remain in the EPL! [-X

Are you suddenly becoming a Jose fan Mat?

Youo think he can suddenly turn round his diabolical record at SJP and in such emphatic fashion ...

20 Feb 2005 FAC lost 1 - 0
15 May 2005 League D 1 - 1
22 Apr 2007 League D 0 - 0
2 Nov 2013 League L2 - 0
6 Dec 2014 League L 2 - 1
26 Sep 2015 League 2 - 2

AND he's WORRIED .... This was after Toon got relegated in 2016

During a conversation with Mourinho at Old Trafford, Dyer has revealed that the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss spoke of his poor league record at St James’ Park.

And Mourinho puts his lack of league victories on Tyneside down to the passionate Geordie support.

“I’ve just been at SoccerAid and Mourinho says that he is glad Newcastle are down because he’s never won against them yet,” Dyer, who was speaking at The Three Lions pub as part of Carlsberg’s ‘Pubstitutions’ campaign, explained.

“When I was there, he said to me about Newcastle: ‘The support whenever they play my teams, they’re so behind their team and the fans are unbelievable and it makes it so difficult for away teams.’

“It seemed like he was happy he wouldn’t have to worry about going to St James’ Park next year!

“When Mourinho’s saying he’s glad you’re down because he worries about visiting St James’ Park, then that tells you all you need to know

.........................Mat.
Spurs v Arsenal..... 2-1. Stats 5 - 2
Everton v Palace....1-1. ..... 3 - 0
Stoke v Brighton....1-2. ......1 - 1

What price there being a penalty at the Everton v Palace game?

Everton have been awarded a league-high seven Premier League penalties this season, one more than Palace.

And for good measure the ref is John Moss who had the Liverpool v Spurs game last week

Spurs 5 Arsenal 2 Statts??? I wish [-o<

For the previous two seasons, Spurs have promised much, and delivered nothing, as the players form and physical fitness deteriorated markedly and there are tell tale signs already, that the same scenario could be repeated; this because again the Spurs squad is the weakest among the 'big six'.
It has long been apparent a striker of quality , to support the overworked Harry Kane, and a quality playmaker to back up Eriksen were urgent needs , which Pochettino, (for some unfathomable reason known only to him! :-s ) thought to solve by bringing in two discards from other clubs; first Jansen, and then Llorente, and to utilise the always promising, but never delivering Sissoko . Blessed with, by far, the best defensive back four in the EPL, he then virtually gifted Kylie Walker to Guardiola. While providing opportunities to bring on some of the youngsters, notably Trippier, Davis & Winks , Spurs prospects of challenging for the title could hardly said to have been enhanced by these decisions. The long term injury to Lamella & Alderweireld, further compounded and emphasized the weaknesses of this squad.
So here we are again, for the third consecutive season totally without any hope of the EPL title, BUT with the major difference that we have a fully fit squad; a genuine chance of progressing past Juventus into the next round of the Champions league; probably rank as second favourites to City, to lift the FA Cup; and with only Chelsea & Arsenal seriously challenging us for that vital fourth place finish, below City, Utd & Liverpool.
I think the result of tonight's game is vital to both clubs; to Arsenal because defeat would almost certainly end any chance of the club grabbing the fourth spot, cause them to lose the momentum & optimism gained from the clubs successful January transfer activity, and place incredible pressure upon the players to win the remaining trophy open to them.
Arguably the outcome of this game could have more far reaching affect, extending into the summer. I believe that should Spurs lose, and then go on to miss out on a top four finish, and remain trophy less, all the good work put into the club over the last three years will quickly come to nothing, as the likes of Kane, Alderweireld & Dele Ali are lured away to far more glamouress, far better paying clubs. :(
Liverpool & Palace, to name just two teams, have demonstrated possible solutions to overcome Spurs high pressing game, with quick breaks using a long ball , and one on one situations, (remember the chaos caused by Zaha, & a certain Egyptian weekly impersonating the Scarlet Pimpernel! So I think it is time for Pochettino to make some adjustments to both his preferred formation and tactics, and also display some courage in his selections. :-k
For example 4-3-3. Lloris: Aurier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen & Davis: Dembele, Eriksen & Rose: Moura, Kane & Son.
Bench: Vorm; Dier; Dele Ali; Trippier; Wanyama; Winks; Lamella.
Enjoy the game.

Well, you got that right Statto and no doubt about the award of this penalty.
I'll spare everyone my thoughts on the game, but I'm obviously disappointed with events in the second half. That was increased by the Scottish commentator's apparent view that Everton was actually Barcelona. They're not.
Who is he?

Udon Maps pundit,mat80's criticism of Pochettino was a little harsh,I thought.
Walker didn't want to stay and Llorente was a 13m buy from Swansea.Obviously he's not in Kanes class but the system the Spuds play means they only play one out and out striker.
Maybe someone like Rashford would be a good fit for Tottenham as he can play through the middle or out wide ?

Last night Spurs were well worth their victory on their second half showing. They should have been 3 goals up before Lacazette had that dreadful miss in injury time that would have given Arsenal an undeserved point.

Three games tonight and, amazingly, two are at half decent times....
Huddersfield v Bournemouth 7pm Thai
Newcastle v Manchester United 9.15pm Thai
Southampton v Liverpool 11.30pm Thai
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

A much needed win for Huddersfield. They played very well, although Bournemouth were awful defensively. With half the league in a relegation struggle its now Newcastle,Stoke and West Brom who badly need the points.
