Re: Premier League 2017-18
Thought I'd draw up a quick chart to compare the relegation candidates (didn't include Everton as I think the points from the home leg of the derby will probably be enough to keep them up )
Couple of things to note for anyone who fancies a little flutter ...
Southampton have only got 4 more home matches (2 against top 6 and 2 against the others) and 7 away (1 against top 6 and SIX against the others)
Watford were an "away" team earlier in the season (if you believed all the Fantasy Pundits) but that now comes back to bite with avengence as they now play 4 top six sides away and none at home.

That's different .....
Sacking the manager didn't produce the Boing Boing that it was hoped.
Hiring sick note looks like it might fail to produce goals and only give the medical staff some extra practice.
What to do now???
Ok lets try sacking the Chairman and the CEO

http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-43052024Sky and BT win Premier League TV rights
So no change, despite the rumours of some sort of live streaming challenge from the American 'big boys'..Sky and BT Sport have agreed to pay £4.464bn to broadcast Premier League football games for three seasons from 2019-20.
The matches that remain up for grabs are for midweek and bank holiday fixtures.
Sky and BT could end up paying hundreds of millions of pounds less than the record £5.136bn for the rights they paid in the 2015 auction.
Sky Sports is to broadcast 128 games per season, including 32 matches on a Saturday at 17:30.
BT Sport has won the rights to broadcast 32 matches per season on a Saturday at 12:30.
Sky paid £3.579bn and BT paid a total of £885m to broadcast the matches over three seasons.
There will be, it appears, yet another shift away from the traditional Saturday 3pm. kick off of games though!!
It said it will show "Saturday tea time matches, Super Sunday, Monday Night Football and Friday Night Football".
Sky also confirmed it would be broadcasting Saturday evening Premier League matches for the first time; eight fixtures are being introduced from the 2019-2020 season.

Re: Premier League 2017-18
If that doesn't some up Wenger and Arsenal, I don't know what does ....
You pay 60 million for a player, and ONLY THEN check to find out if he can play in all your matches
Surely even they must have realised that Dortmund hadn't qualified for the Champions league KO stages, after all they were in the same group as Real Madrid and TOTTENHAM
After splashing out £60m for the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the January transfer window, and losing fellow forward Olivier Giroud to Chelsea, you can understand Arsene Wenger's annoyance that he is ruled out for the whole of Arsenal's Europa League campaign.
But it's not because he's played in the competition this season - but due to a UEFA ruling which states he cannot be registered as he has already played for another club which has now entered the tournament.
Aubameyang's former employers, Borussia Dortmund, dropped down from the Champions League after finishing third in their group, meaning there will be no European appearance for the club-record signing this season.

Its not as if they were part of the U21 squad. Two of them are approaching middle age.If I were a West Brom fan I'd be wondering what the hell was going on !

Jonny Evans, Jake Livermore, Boaz Myhill and Gareth Barry have 1,236 Premier League appearances between them
West Brom players Gareth Barry, Jonny Evans, Jake Livermore and Boaz Myhill have apologised after a taxi was stolen from outside a fast-food restaurant in Barcelona on Thursday.
The quartet were interviewed but not arrested by police after the incident, which happened in the early hours of the morning and is being investigated by the Premier League club.
"We felt it important we identify ourselves out of respect for team-mates who otherwise could be implicated by association," they said in a statement.
West Brom and Northern Ireland defender Evans 30, former England midfielder Barry 36, England international Livermore, 28, and reserve goalkeeper Myhill, 35, said they wanted to apologise for "the events which have been the subject of widespread and negative publicity".
Mossos d'Esquadra - the Catalan regional police force - had told BBC Sport the four players involved wanted to go out in Barcelona, but found everything closed so took a taxi to a fast-food restaurant.
When they left, at approximately 05:30, it is alleged they took the taxi and drove back to their hotel - without the driver.
Police were alerted by the hotel and taxi driver, who was reunited with his vehicle at about 08:00.
Baggies boss Alan Pardew said the players involved had broken a midnight curfew, adding it was "unacceptable" and he "felt a bit let down".
"It wasn't what we wanted," he said. "We've gone there to try to get ourselves ready and up for the run-in and this is obviously not ideal."
West Brom, who are bottom of the Premier League, have won just one of their past 25 league matches.
They host Southampton in the FA Cup at 15:00 GMT on Saturday.
The players added: "We would like to assure our supporters that this incident does not reflect the determination and resolve we possess to do all we can to recover a difficult season."
The club said it had "instigated its own investigation into the incident" and said the players "will be subject to the full rigours of our internal disciplinary procedures".
It said it would not comment any further on the incident until the investigation is over.

It's great to see that Everton remains the focus of this thread. Perhaps it should be called Everton 2017-18?
It makes me very happy to see Everton remains as vital to English football as Captain Mainwaring was to the defence of Walmington-on-Sea.

Looks like the "cab four" will get away with their little indiscretion as the magistrates in Spain have "shelved it"
