To add....

Let's apply some critical thinking to Felix's posts, rather than try & 'catch him out'.

Quite enjoying all this. Least it's making me think.

Your Linux OS is open source and well patched, Firefox browser is up to date and locked down tight, scripts within a browser session need explicit permission to run. Email client is tight. You feel secure. But what about the various chips and firmware on your motherboard? Some can allow remote execution of scripts, enable keystroke logging etc.

MINIX: Intel's hidden in-chip operating system

Buried deep inside your computer's Intel chip is the MINIX operating system and a software stack, which includes networking and a web server. It's slow, hard to get at, and insecure as insecure can be.

Yes ME in Intel chips has been known about since 2008.
It appears that ME 'borrows' Minix code - although being proprietary no one knows for certain how much.
After an initial push at Intel to use an Open Source solution instead of ME the issue very much died a death until the recent Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities recently raised their heads.
This again confirmed the dangers of using proprietary rather than open source software.
There are youtube videos on how to disable ME, but I for 1, won't consider it was something necessary.
The other solution is to buy a computer with an AMD chip instead of a Intel one - although the latest AMD Accelerated Processing Unit range of processors have their own proprietary system as well.

The only way to be 100% safe on a pc is to never connect it to the internet. That then makes it a worthless box for most people. There are, however, free & simple solutions that will make a pc safe enough for the vaste majority of people.
None of those solutions involve Microsoft or Google though.. :D

In Felix's case... if his pc is 'infected' then it is most likely that has been done by an Eastern European botnet who has now stolen his identity & passwords & is using his processing power to mine for Bitcoins, rather than by the Government, Google, Microsoft or Intel.
If you are running Windows 7, not upgrading & not using an anti-virus then you are a prime candidate to be taken over - but not by the Big Boys, by the criminals..

Fellas, Fellas..why do you want me to provide "the link"? Just look into who designed Linux. Right?
I do enough just posting "my stuff" that I don't got time to do research for you. And besides, I do care about you!
Look what happened to Wassa after he pushed me into provide info on something I had done years ago in the Dental Community, HE DISAPPEARED!! YIKES! I don't want that to happen to any of you, and you, Bob Helm. You and me are like the "Ying/Yang". Without us, where would we be?
And see, Paul is still waiting for my "proof" on another Forum (flu shots, I think), but I won't give it. I don't want Paul to "disappear, along with Wassa. (come on guys, it might be a joke, but makes sense, right?)
Faraday, do you think this is a game? You seem to be out for more "points" (HeHe)
You wrote: Let's apply some critical thinking to Felix's posts, rather than try & 'catch him out'.
So you want me to go on and offer more points? OK, lets go......
Bob Helm said "Just unplug the Pc".......
Bob, last big trojan I got jumped from my "turned on" pc to my "unplugged" pc. Whats up with that, Big Bob?
Truth, these things transfer through electricity......oh my! So your Firewall is useless.
And your vpn has to pass through "the gate keepers" also, OH MY!
Yes, this is a interesting subjuct...I like all the input.....but lets go back to Bob Helm as he suggests my pc has been taken over by Russian spys trying throw the election of Trump back to HRC.
Bob, I reformat my pC eaCh month for 50tb at Big C. I know the "psychology" of my machines. You know their "technical"
value. Maybe you should hire me to help you build the "most best" PC.
If you want BC generating websites, I will post some, they offer full length movies, with "minimal spin", all for free and offered before the real movie is out.

I do enough just posting "my stuff" that I don't got time to do research for you. And besides, I do care about you!

But surely you must have already done the research before you posted such a thing??

Bob Helm said "Just unplug the Pc".......

I did not. If you want to quote what I said, quote it - don't make up stuff
Bob, last big trojan I got jumped from my "turned on" pc to my "unplugged" pc. Whats up with that, Big Bob?

I would say, how did you know that happened??
You had to turn on your ‘turned off’ pc to discover it was infected – but then it wasn’t turned off any more, was it??

Truth, these things transfer through electricity......oh my! So your Firewall is useless.

Yes, this is a interesting subjuct...I like all the input.....but lets go back to Bob Helm as he suggests my pc has been taken over by Russian spys trying throw the election of Trump back to HRC.

Again, Felix – you want to quote me...quote me… Please show anywhere I mentioned Trump & the USA elections – I did not...The huge majority of criminal bots are located in the former Soviet Union,, nothing to do with Trump..to do with criminality!!
Bob, I reformat my pC eaCh month for 50tb at Big C. I know the "psychology" of my machines. You know their "technical"
value. Maybe you should hire me to help you build the "most best" PC.

Why would anyone want to format their hard drive every month? If they did, why would they pay anyone to do what is a simple task.. Finally, having decided to pay someone why on earth would they go to a supermarket to do it?? Especially a place has a reputation for installing advert laden short term freeware onto customer machines???

Nope Felix, I don't think this is a game, & neither am I trying to get points.

I address some of the things you say that I agree with, then I post proof.

Additionally, my "critical thinking" comment was to attempt to get some people to look at proving or disproving what you claim, as a few things do have validity.

In short, I was after a sensible discussion, backed up with proof, & reasoned argument.

Just my one off post, and I could put my comment in any number of threads lately, they are all the same.

Perhaps I just live a simpler life than others.
I start to read threads and posts then stop of late if the post is more than 4 lines, especially with some of the c..p IMO that is being thrown out and discussed.
I know whatever UM members are discussing may be of interest to yourselves but, wow, you guys spend way to much time onine looking for what????
I could not be bothered filling my head with some of the stuff I read. Simpler life again.
When I am not working and residing in UT I have no desire to sit at a computer forany large amount of time.
More interested in going with the missus to find a nice breakfast or lunch place.
I came to Thailand to relax and enjoy the lifestyle that is offered here.
Only occasionally checking UM for local news and comments. That's the absolute limit of my need to try and change the world by talking of world politics, which I have no control over, and through far off land politics, especially my home country politics of Aussie land.
But, carry on and I will continue to be bewildered.

OK, BOB, pick your flavor, and I hope you do not disappear.
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=USA+military+ ... 0-4&ia=web
So.....last night the termits attacked us again.
This time i took my wife into the bedroom, sealed the door and "prayed" to God, to take away this thing.
In the morning, we opened the bedroom door and did not see any termites..not even "wings".
The guy who said "This happens all the time"..well, OK, but did you ever see a "Tornato funnel whooling around above you so loud you could feel the wind they produced"? We had this in 4 of our 8 rooms. "Tornato funnels"
We got a bucket full of dead termites from the 1st attack. "a bucket full".
Time to go fishing, right? HeHe!
Faraday, I did not attack you from my last message..reread it, slower, and with a "funny" mind set. All is good.
So what is new? Lets see.....I got attacked by a Trogen 3 times, it multiplied itself by the second...I beat it off with my 3 programs: SuperAnti-Virus, Lorus Antivirus, and "unhackme" . After about 20 minutes, I had deleted about 3,500 viruses.
I won all 3 times. I am a Gladiator!

So papafarang, "vented"...hope he feels better now.
I think he made one of the best pizzas I ever had.
(one of the best pizzas I ever had".........)
(one of the best pizzas I ever had.........)
I have not been into some of you new pizza places so I cannot talk about you.
Maybe issue a "felixcat" discount or a "special" pizza, or just say "Hello".
No problem.
So why do I like "papafarang"? Because he and I are in total agreement. Yes, he says "the world is not my home, I'm just a passenger" . Same as me, This is not my home. Heaven is my home. I am "passengering" to there. I hope.
OK,lets go to something else....
Do you read the "contracts" before hiting the "accept" buttom? You should, because by hitting "accept", you agree to give all ownership of your photos, ect. over to the one that controls all, google and its government agencies. And you thought Bill Gates (Rockefeller) and that Facbook boy (Rockefeller) were just normal people.Hmmm?
The Ghost in my machine is a well known one...but I see what they are doing....
How about you?

Oh dear Felix...
So the USA military use Linux so you think it was created for them..
They also use water & air & food.. does that mean it was created for the military also??

You said Linux was made for the military one link that proves that...or you are incorrect..

Bit of advice Felix.. A little knowledge is a very dangerous thing, stay away from things that you are way out of your depth on... :D
