Re: Premier League 2017-18
What's with the miracles thing then Mat?
FACT .......... last time Newcastle lost a league match to Anyone other than Man City was 16 Dec 2017
FACT .......... RAFA has never lost as Toon manager v Liverpool
FACT .......... Liverpool have not beaten Newcastle in the league since 2014/15 season (2 - 0 at Anfield)
Whilst agreeing that Liverpool are probably favorites, I don't think it would rank in the "miracle" category if the Toon came away with something [-o<

Well, perhaps not of the same proportion of, say, Arsenal miraculously winning at Brighton :-"stattointhailand wrote: ↑March 2, 2018, 12:28 pm

Yeah, I can see you all now, particularly those in the relegation mix, balling your eyes out! Bit late in the day, but I have to feel sorry for Palace not stealing a point against Spurs. Spurs dominated possession, without being at their flowing best, missed 2/3 great chances, but Palace showed a lot of fight to be denied so very close to the end.
Palace do top the Clubs injury list with 13, as of this week. One can make a pretty good team from those injured, all of whom are genuine first team players. Four players (Dann, Puncheon, Bakary Sako, Wickham - remember him?) will not play again this season. I have a little less sympathy for Dann and Puncheon, who picked up their injuries through crude, rather desperate fouls. Others are Speroni, Kelly, Ward, Sakho, Tomkins, Loftus-Cheek, Cabaye , Zaha, Schlupp. I understand Sclupp and Ward may be ok for Monday, if selected. Tomkins had only cramp, apparently. Zaha, so important, "a good healer" not too far away. Others, don't know.
Incidentally, new Norwegian Sorloth has been quite impressive, certainly in comparison with Benteke who sadly is so out of touch (arguably, not getting the kind of service he thrives on) . Palace has also signed ex- Liverpool 'keeper Cavalieri, as Hennessey, who I far too often tag 'might have done better" has no competition.

I wonder if Watford are a bit worried that their fans might think an afternoon shopping with the misses is preferable to watching Watford v West Brom

Re: Premier League 2017-18
There has been a lot said over the years about certain players being "targeted" by refs/linos, because of their reputation. Whether that's for over the top tackles/flailing arms when jumping/diving etc we all assume that those in charge are keeping a close watch on "serial offenders".
Why then, after being caught THREE times for foul throws last week (a) was Serge Aurier even allowed within 10 yds of a throw by his own team and (b) NOT penalised by the officials for at least TWO more foul throws yesterday?
Not sure what his problem is, but I would have thought that after so many years in the game , he would have mastered the art of tacking a throw in mind you, judging by some of the tackles he makes in and around the penalty area, perhaps something as complicated as a throw in may be a step too far for him.
At a time when everyone is complaining about too much footy and players needing to be rotated, I was interested to see Poch go with 9 players (Plus Sanchez & Aurier again) and then bring on the Llama thus reducing it to EIGHT.
OK he got away with it again but the other 8 cannot be expected to cover for 11 players all the way to the end of the season

Re: Premier League 2017-18
I have to say the early kick off wasn't a game I was really looking forward to,so much so I missed the first 20 minutes to watch the end of "The Face Thailand".Actually I think the nicest looking women in the show is not one of the contestants but one of the team mentors called Bee....see what you think....I'd say shes about 35 and certainly easier on the eye than Sam Allardyce or Wayne Rooney !
Ashley Williams...what a joke.....he completely lost Wood in the penalty area for the headed winner and then 5 minutes later tried to re-arrange Barnes face from a corner at the other end and Williams is the Everton captain !
Once Burnley had equalized Everton seemed to lack the fight needed to look for the winner.
Good solid win for The Spuds. If Chelsea lose at City they will have a 5 point lead for 4th place....big game for Tottenham against Juventus in midweek.
As for the footie,I switched on just as Everton scored. For the first half I thought Everton were the better side but that certainly changed in the second half and Burnley thoroughly deserved their win.Ashley Williams...what a joke.....he completely lost Wood in the penalty area for the headed winner and then 5 minutes later tried to re-arrange Barnes face from a corner at the other end and Williams is the Everton captain !

Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.
