Have any of you tried the google earth program?? It is free (select the Try Google Earth link at the bottom of the page rather than the link at the top). There are a couple of minuses I have found - you do need a really good graphics card if you want to get the best out of the detail views, North America & Europe detail far better than Asia, but North East of Thailand not too bad, I couldn't get it to work with FF although it does work with IE easily enough.

I agree. It's a fascinating site. Bangkok is quite detailed. Spend ages trying to locate hotels etc that I've stayed at and places I've visited.
I have found one or two places that are way out of date though.
I had a great holiday at Cancun, Mexico a few years ago. Thought I would have a look at it and it wasn't on the map. I know it's a modern resort, but it has beeen around for 10-15 years.

Works well on my HP NoteBook using GPRS the Cache is currently 367M (set to 512 limit) BUT I was suprised to see it did not zoom directly into some sites I had previously visited, it had to do a refresh which takes time. I would like to see it run on a broard band connection.
Take a look at places like "Ground Zero" in NY and the Kennedy Space centre. Although the White House is blurred th Pentagon appears with amazing detail???

Yes it is a good program and is quite helpful in some respects. I use it quite a bit here in the sandbox but keep in mind ALL the imaging is old
and they were all taken from military sattelites. Military installations are
clear but old photos so the bad guys don't have new info for their
unsavory ideas.
