I can highly recommend this dentist office for an excellent job of doing the Scaling and Root Planing for gum disease. The one that helped me is a young dentist named Bo who graduated from dental school in Louisiana. His wife, Elizabeth, is also very good for regular dental work, and she too is a graduate of a US university They have a specialist for just about any dental need including root canals which start at around 8000 baht. Bo charged me 6000 baht for the Scaling and Root Planing and broke it up into two sessions over two days. I returned after two months for a single session for the entire mouth for 2000. Each session last about 45-60 minutes. He's not cheap but he does good work and this fee included a full mouth x-ray. He has all the latest technology and equipment, and of course, Bo and his wife speak excellent English. This is probably the same dentist that Lone Star recommended above.

I believe that Bo is Dr. Wanchan's nephew. Dr. Wanchan (crown specialty) went to the University of Michigan. And you're correct. There is a specialist for just about everything. Dr. Nittanai also does excellent routine dental work.

Well, I can help. After 20 years in the business, I know a bit.
1st "deep root canal treatment" is a mis-statement. Its "ginjavitis"..this is from bad "oral health".
We eat sugars and other foods, and don't brush well. This allows the foods remaining on our teeth to turn into bacteria. This "bacteria" turns into "infection" under the gums. The "infection" shows its face in the form of puffy gums, red gums, bad odor in our breath. Sometimes this is "inherted" from our Mom or Pops DNA (did your Mom or Pop lose their teeth or have many dental problems?). If your problem is really bad, I would ask for the best "hygenist" who is knowledgeable of deep "scalling". (Don't fall for the girl that still has 'achne". ) after this, buy some MYBACIN Anticeptic (not the "mouthwash" ones that are full of sugars) Yes, it burns, but it works. Rinsing repeadedly should kill the germs, bacteria, infection and start to show more healthy gums, within a few days.

Thank you for your reply, i think you are correct with your diagnosis, both dental clinics i visited here in NBLP told me i have no problem & needed to clean properly after eating, i do try to look after my teeth, i am approaching 60 and still have my original teeth, not long ago i had a similar problem with the rear molar on the same side as the offending tooth now, but it was also giving me pain in the ear & temple, they removed the tooth, problem solved, the offending tooth now is the molar above the one removed, but like you say, after chewing on that side, my gums swell and causes pain, Yes my Mother had false teeth & Father had pretty much no teeth in his older age, my problem is not bad, but, i have to be careful what food i eat on that side, any tough meat is a no no...your professional opinion is to see a dental hygienist? are you aware of any? and do you know where they sell this MYBACIN Anticeptic? Thank you again for your advice

You can buy the Mybacin at most any pharmacy area inside Tesco, Big-C or any of the brand pharmacies at Central Plaza. I just bought a 750 ml bottle at Tesco UD Town for 108 Baht on sale. I dilute it with water 50/50 because it is really strong, burns my mouth and leaves a lingering aftertaste if I take it straight.

When she initially went for the first consultation she was referred to another dentist for scaling and cleaning. She was also referred to another Office for complete x-rays, Then upon return to Udom Clinic she was told she needed photos front and 2 laterals of her face. This is a woman Dentist that she is seeing.

Therefore, my point is that my wife was was referred elsewhere because they do not do the scaling, cleaning, x-rays or, the photos needed to get the procedure done on site which was really a pain traveling to all the referred clinics. I endured and her braces are in place so I am committed for the minimum of the next 24 months.

Are we talking about the Udom clinic parallel to the red Suzuki on the linked map?

I can assure you that this clinic has a complete and modern X-Ray room with a machine that does the full mouth shots that are viewed on a wall-mounted computer/TV monitor right beside the dental chair, so the dentist has a bird's eye view of the problem. When I went for treatment a few years ago there was only one older female dentist in the clinic, but now she has several specials which include her nephew and his wife who recently joined the team after returning from their studies in the US. They are fully equipped to handle most any kind of dental work, so I can't imagine them sending a patient somewhere else for work that they can't handle in-house. I have visited this clinic regularly for the past 6 months for treatment.

Yes that is the same clinic where my wife had work done. There is a tv on the all next to receptionist desk and on the window it states that they are a specialist clinic with American trained Dentists. The Dentist is a youngish woman perhaps 35 or 40. And yes she did send my wife elsewhere for scaling, cleaning and x-rays and facial photos. I do recall my Thai wife said that the Dentist told her if she had x-rays in their clinic it would be very expensive. However, she did not give the option of having the x-rays in house or quote a price. Perhaps she was spreading the wealth. No matter my wife considers her Dentist to be well qualified and gentle and she is happy with her so that is all that matters considering she will have at least 2 more years of monthly visits.

so i did have a root canal treatment long time ago , payed 2.300 baht , prices now are still the same between 1-4.000 baht depending where you go, paying 8.000 baht for a root canal is way over , even if they speak English and studied abroad ,my view on this ,but as with everything , as long as you are happy and more important ...stay happy...

I have been going to this dental clinic for many years, but I have had perhaps the finest dental work ever done recently at this clinic by Dr. Bo and Dr. Golf.

Dr. Bo specializes in crowns, and Dr. Golf specializes in root canals.

I had a tooth in very bad shape due to another Thai dentist's failure to crown the tooth at a time when the tooth was most suitable for crowning. One dentist suggested that I have an implant, but I got another opinion and went to Dr. Bo for a look-see. Dr. Bo said he could save the tooth and post it after Dr. Golf did the root canal. I was relieved. I wouldn't get an implant if it was done free of charge due to the various stages and months before completion.

Dr. Golf uses high technology state-of-the-art equipment for his root canals. No three visits with him. Everything is done in one sitting. Very precise and accurate. Very clean work when finished. I was very pleased. Dr. Golf speaks good English.

Dr. Bo completed the work with a post and a crown. Perfect fit. No jamming and ramming as I have experienced at another Thai dentist's office. Dr. Bo takes his time. Very clean work. Very mehtodical. Dr. Bo speaks EXCELLENT English and trained at LSU Dental School. Not afraid of questions.

I've been to dentists all over the Kingdom due to my travels, and this place is #1. I have never had this high quality of work done in this past set of visits by any dentist anywhere -- including in the US -- and I had a fine dentist there.

They do NOT charge the "going rate", but you won't get half-a55ed, "going rate" work either. As with other health concerns, my teeth are important, so I pay for the best care that I can find. Cheap Charlies need not inquire.

I have been to Rak Fan with Dr Saranya putting in 2 crowns and cleaning my teeth. Cost per crown was THB 7500 and THB 600 for the cleaning of the teeth. I am happy with the work and will see her again.

Hi and a question about root canal work on kids

Should a 10 year old need root canal, at that early age, especially when the teeth are still developing and appear to be over crowed in in need of braces down the track to align them. In many instances the kids go on to need braces in their teens, to pull their teeth into shape.

I am not a Dentist but, I would have thought that if a 10 year old had two teeth with cavities that the preferred approach at 10 years old, would simply be to take out both teeth, unless they were the very front teeth.

I can remember at the age of 8 years old having 5 of my teeth, removed in one session due to cavities (due to all the lollies I had) and I never ended up with any gaps between my teeth, in my later years. What gaps I had after the removal, just closed up, even without braces to help.

I am not sure if at the age of 10, a new one will grow in its place after removal, but if it did not, then surely later in his teens with the use of braces to re shaped the teeth, any gap could be close up, or even an implant could be considered towards the end of his teen years?

Or is it that a 10 year old, will have had his baby teeth replaced by his second pPermanent teeth set??

Had the young boy taken to Rakfan Dental Clinic,Dr. Natt

First visit, was four Fillings and an Xray, including VAT, came to TB 3,150.

Now comes the Root Canal Treatment, on a rear Molar, which will be total TB 9,000 (3 visits x TB 3,000 a time)

All in all great value, and from what I am told excellent treatment, but its not me in the chair. This is his first time to a Dentist and he hates it already :-&

Just driven 1 hour for my 11.30am appointment at Rakfan dental clinic arrived at 11.20 to be told many students 6 people in front of me long wait.
Told them not long wait, goodbye.
Won't be going there again.
