Morning Coffee and a Snake
This talking about snakes really scares me. I am blind as a mole, and do not look where I am walking, especially inside the house. I always step on the dogs, but they are used to it, so they move. I am scared to dead, even by the thought of a snake, and so is my Thai husband, so we would really have a problem if a snake came into the house. I would scream, and demand he took action because he is the man, and he would be just, or even more scared than me.
Nay.........Just avoid the poisonous kinds.Danish wrote:This talking about snakes really scares me. I am blind as a mole, and do not look where I am walking, especially inside the house. Yes. The cobra is a particular favourite. Normally found in restaurants advertising jungle food, and can be seen , live in baskets round the back.SanBorn wrote:Do Thais eat snakes?
I am convinced Thais eat anything after being offered a stew like dish which I was rather reluctant to try, and with good reason. It turned out to be , cows afterbirth.

Even though I'm a "girly-girl" type, I suppose growing up on the coast in semi-tropical climate got me acclimated to snakes. Not that I'm crazy about them (they still give me a start if I come upon one suddenly!). But if I know a snake is non-poisonous, it doesn't bother me to pick it up and move it. If it's poisonous, I give it plenty of room! The snake that worries me the most is the small coral snakes that live in the grass and can be stepped on, and I don't want to hang around long enough to decide whether the stripes are black/yellow/red (individual snake) or black/yellow/black/red (coral).
I do have a large individual snake (5' or so) that lives in the ivy at my house, and I like that it controls the rodents -- just wish I didn't come across its "babies" (6") when I clean out flower beds each spring.
