Missing Boys in Caves.
Re: Missing Boys in Caves.
Divers have begun an operation to try to extract the 13 survivors out of Tham Luang cave, chief of the rescue mission Narongsak Osotthanakorn announced at 10.30 am this morning.
“Today is D-Day,” he said, adding that 13 international cave divers and 5 Navy SEAL members have gone into the cave to bring out the survivors.
He said the rescue operation began at 10.00 am and the survivors will be brought out in what is known as a “buddy dive” in which each of the survivors will be escorted by two rescue divers. He told a news briefing that the first survivor should be brought out by 9 pm tonight.
Narongsak said both the survivors and their families have already been informed of the rescue operation. “The boys are both physically and mentally fit and they all agree with the rescue mission. They all said they are prepared to encounter whatever lies ahead,” he said.
He said the current weather and conditions in the cave are “most conducive” for the rescue operation. “The monsoon rains are looming and the window of opportunity to save them is closing,” he said.

The first two members of the Thai football team have been rescued, a local rescue official told Reuters.
“Two kids are out. They are currently at the field hospital near the cave,” said Tossathep Boonthong, chief of Chiang Rai’s health department and part of the rescue team.
“We are giving them a physical examination. They have not been moved to Chiang Rai hospital yet,” Tossathep told Reuters.

Re: Missing Boys in Caves.
6 boys out & 2 are in CR hospital.
Re: Missing Boys in Caves.
You cant believe the media?
its probably just the first 4 from the first group, if they followed their strategy of 4 then 3, then 3, then 3. =D>
Otherwise it would be 7
That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.
Re: Missing Boys in Caves.
Pipoz4444 your logic is correct ,calculating the in coming reports last night =7 , but after a long search this morning , i can only find confirmed 4 , the reports of 6 etc seem to have vanished over night ,
Re: Missing Boys in Caves.
If reports are correct, 13 foreigners and 5 Thai Navy SEAL's form the rescue team. Likely that 4 are the max number each day to be brought out. The youngsters will need Thai speakers to explain what is happening and offer encouragement during the escape. Well done to all on successful first phase of the operation. Keep praying to all the Gods.
Re: Missing Boys in Caves.
It's a long arduous trip in and out. The same team of divers cannot be used without getting rested. As far as what is happening, the news networks are not to be trusted.
Re: Missing Boys in Caves.
I thought Elon Musk was just brainstorming aloud when he tweeted about making a tiny submarine to fit the boys in.
He's gone and built one but it probably won't be used on this occasion due to timing. I'm not sure of the practicalities of it since caves aren't generally straight, surely the submarine would have to bend depending on the cave. Credit for trying though, it could be useful in certain situations and if it saves one life it's a worthwhile effort.

Re: Missing Boys in Caves.
“They made a special request that they wished to have Pad Krapao,” Narongsak told the afternoon press briefing. I knew this guy was there for a reason!!!! All of Thailand will be so happy. Looks like Phase 2 is going well. Hopes and prayers to all.
Re: Missing Boys in Caves.
4 total evac'd today.
4 more remain + coach.
now the re-stock operations resume.
precipitation minimal and expected to remain same in that direct area.

Re: Missing Boys in Caves.
Speaking at a press briefing at 9.30 pm, the former Chiang Rai governor said that the extraction mission today which began at 11 am was accomplished at 8 pm with four more teenage footballers being rescued out of the flooded cave and safely sent to Chiang Rai Prachanukroh hospital.
The good news today, he said, was that the rescue team spent nine hours – two hours faster than they did a day earlier – from the time they went deeper into the cave to extract the four survivors until they emerged safely from the cave.
He attributed the improvement of the extraction mission with lesser time spent to the increased experience with the terrain of the divers, the 100 plus people from different countries who installed the base line and the other support equipment.
For the final operation tomorrow, Mr Narongsak said the rescuers would use the same plan with some adjustments because the number of survivors to be extracted would be five instead of four as was the case for the last two days.
Officials will have to spend about 20 hours preparing all the necessary support equipment, said the former governor, adding that he was confident the rescue team would be able to operate with greater ease and to shorten the time spent by between 4-5 hours.
He said the last five survivors in the cave were in good health, adding that those who are now at the hospital could not eat fried rice yet because they will have to adjust themselves with the eating.
All the eight rescued survivors are now quarantined in the clean ward of the hospital.
