Brexit and Leadership.
Brexit and Leadership.
A government minister in the Conservative party this Morning has resigned in the party because he rebelled against the Governments Brexit leadership. The rebels are hell bent on changing the law and force the Government to change its result because they lost there in campaign. The word Treason is for people who try and undermine there leaders and whip up support to claim this. We the people decided in a vote to leave and was accepted however there are ministers of all party's attempting to change the law. These are the same MPs who were voted into parliament by there Constituents.
Re: Brexit and Leadership.
And his constituents may have voted to remain. They are the people he is beholden too. Remainers still 48%, they have rights to be heard too, They do not accuse Brexiteers of treason, just stupidity. Brexiteers just shout betrayal but have no answers, they want their cake and eat it, expecting the EU to roll over and surrender. The current government has been grossly incompetent in the way they have handled this, that is why the pound is now so low. Under 43 baht for most of the last month, Expect 40 in 2019 unless some realism dawns on them.
Re: Brexit and Leadership.
One of the main reasons for Brexit was to gain back out rights freedoms, and run our Country as we want it ran from. Not a Court in Brussels judging us. Also we wanted the immigrants and freeloaders stopped to use our NHS.
Re: Brexit and Leadership.
Nice to see the disruptive Jockinese causing a ruckus at PMQ's yesterday. Since apparently they were afforded only 18 minutes of time to debate what former EU powers will be returned to Holyrood after Brexit versus being seized by Westminster, the SNP House leader claimed, "Under the circumstances, given the disrespect that's shown, I have got no option but to ask that this House now sits in private." which momentarily caused the wheels to come off.

Re: Brexit and Leadership.
With their usual contempt for the electorate, the bully boys who control British politics and industry expected a 'NO' vote to leaving the EU. Such was their surprise at the 'YES' vote they are doing everything in their power to try and change this, especially in terms of of screwing up the Brexit negotiations. They are not interested in what the majority wants.
The same applies to the bully boys (and girls!) in Scotland who will forever keep asking for another independence referendum until they get a 'YES'.
We are witnessing the decline of British democracy, where the desires of the minority have to supercede the wishes of the majority - be it Brexit, Scottish independence, capital punishment or immigration.
Happily Thailand doesn't have to worry about this!!!

Re: Brexit and Leadership.
In one Bonanza, we voted and was accepted but because some want to change the rules they want us to allow this, it wont happen May has told them clearly the vote was fair and cannot be changed. In my opinion the rebels who are trying to change the rules and cause trouble should be sacked, As for Wee jimmy Krankie ie Nicola Sturgeon she keeps banging on about Scottish Independence yet she wants to keep the British Pound. Scotland would be bankrupt in six Months surviving on North Sea Oil that is now beginning to dry up.
Re: Brexit and Leadership.
Sorry Vlad, you clearly have little idea what the role of an MP encompasses.
For your edification, this is what the Government & Parliament believe it is.. https://www.parliament.uk/documents/com ... nglish.pdf
Supporting their Party is only 1 of the 3 elements.
They also have a responsibility to Parliament itself. Here Prime Minister May (because of issues within her own party) has constantly tried to limit the authority of Parliament & leave the Brexit outcome exactly as she & her cabinet want it to be. Any MP who blindly accepts that situation is failing in his duty to Parliament.
Thirdly, the MP has a duty to his constituents.
Many (in some constituencies, the majority) voted to remain - they have a right for their voice to be heard.
Even where the majority voted to leave there are huge divisions amongst them as to exactly what that would entail. Any MP who doesn't look for a variety of options on the table in order to pick the best for his constituents would also be failing in their duty.
Finally we come to the absolute mess that these negotiations are in over a year after the decision to leave was made.
The Government still have absolutely no idea what they want out of Brexit & what Britain will look like after the event.
They are muddling through with plans that attempt to appease all areas of the Conservative Party still seemingly believing that they can have their cake & eat it too.
The Government need to put on the table a clear & concise plan of what they want out of the negotiations.
Parliament needs to vote that the plan is acceptable.
The Brexit team need to go & negotiate with Europe to achieve the plan.
Parliament then votes to accept or reject whatever has been negotiated.
Britain leaves Europe - if Parliament has accepted the negotiated agreement, then under the negotiated terms & conditions. If Parliament rejected the deal, then Britain leaves without any agreement in place.
A year down the track & we are still not at stage one - I can fully understand why many MPs are unwilling to be steamrollered into making poor decisions just because the Government is unwilling to say exactly what they are seeking.
That is not being a traitor, that is doing what you were elected to do...
As to Scotland... I have no view on the Scottish leader. However the British Parliament agreed to devolve certain matters to a Scottish Parliament. To use the exit from Europe as an excuse to claw back some of those decisions is sneaky & probably illegal. The have every right to be very angry indeed..

Re: Brexit and Leadership.
On June 23rd 2016 a legal and binding referendum was held in the U.K. This referendum was irrevocable and made into law, there was no mention of a second bite of the cherry by way of a second referendum nor by intervention of politicians. https://youtu.be/JRowLjb0x48 Here is a reminder for those of you who have short memories. Vlad you’re quite right, the powers that be were confident of a remain vote, came unstuck and have been bleating ever since. Irrespective of what Mr Helm thinks or says, the people decided to leave, end of and the result should be binding on the basis that was promised by the then prime minister. Unfortunately I have to agree with Mr Helm that there has been far too much dithering, Mrs May is proving to be about as good at negotiating as she was as a Home Secretary but what a ludicrous idea it is to let parliament decide on the deal we try to negotiate, that’s about as sensible as Gordon Brown’s effort when he sold our gold, to show your opponent your hand while negotiating is never a great idea that could only be dreamt up by someone who is pro EU, In my and an awful lot of other people’s opinion we should just walk away, keep our money and be damned, after all that’s what we voted for, YES WE KNEW WHAT WE WERE VOTING FOR. Of course the remoaners will tell you it’s the end of the world, the economy will collapse, we will all burn in hell etc etc, what are we up to so far, project fear 4 or 5?

Re: Brexit and Leadership.
I'm obviously far removed from all this but I thought it was a clear choice between remain and the hardest of Brexits. I thought it was really really obvious the EU would be extremely difficult deal with and there would be no halfway house. The people chose Brexit in that context.
I think big trouble lies ahead in the EU. It's not a comfortable bed if remaining. I think the EU within the next 25 years will unwind principally from economic pressures.

Re: Brexit and Leadership.
You thought correctly, it was a very clearly defined choice we had to make. Unfortunately the losing side won't accept that choice and come up with all kinds of excuses as to why it should be invalid, should be changed, altered and basically ballsed around with so that we don't really leave the EU at all, of course showing the EU what you want to negotiate being the dumbest of all the ideas being bandied around. Something to think about, George Soros does nothing unless he's going to earn billions out of it and he is funding a campaign to keep the UK in the EU, of course the remoaners believe this is because he's such a good bloke who has what's best for the UK in his heart, probably like he did before when he was a major influence in a major UK financial crash eh?

Theresa May names new Brexit chief after shock resignation
https://nypost.com/2018/07/09/theresa-m ... signation/
LONDON — Britain and the European Union insisted Monday that their divorce negotiations remain on track, after the resignation of the UK’s top Brexit official shook Prime Minister Theresa May’s fragile grip on power.
May appointed staunchly pro-Brexit lawmaker Dominic Raab as the country’s new Brexit secretary, hours after the late-night resignation of his predecessor, David Davis.
Davis said he could not support May’s plan to maintain close trade and regulatory ties with the EU — a proposal agreed to by the cabinet after a marathon meeting Friday. Steve Baker, a junior Brexit minister, also resigned.
The resignations dealt yet another blow to the beleaguered leader, just two days after she announced she had finally united her quarrelsome government behind her plan for a divorce deal with the EU.
Less than nine months remain until Britain leaves the bloc on March 29, 2019, and the EU has warned Britain repeatedly that time is running out to seal a divorce deal.
UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson resigns
https://nypost.com/2018/07/09/uk-foreig ... n-resigns/
London – The British government says Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has resigned, amid a widening split in the Cabinet over Brexit.
Prime Minister Theresa May’s office said May accepted the resignation on Monday and will announce a replacement soon.
A leader of the campaign to take Britain out of the European Union, Johnson was under pressure to act after the resignation of David Davis as Brexit secretary.
Davis quit late Sunday saying he could not support May’s plans for close trade and regulatory ties with the bloc after the U.K. leaves the European Union next year. The junior Brexit minister Steve Baker also resigned, Downing Street confirmed Monday.

Re: Brexit and Leadership.
David Davis and Boris Johnson resigning was just another day in the sheer dumb stupidity, farce and economic suicide that is Brexit.
If Johnson wasn’t such an unprincipled and morally bankrupt coward, he would have resigned at the Chequers meeting on Friday; instead he only resigned today some hours after David Davis had resigned.
Sadly, it is unlikely that it will be good riddance once and for all to the opportunistic, lying, self-serving and hypocritical buffoon.
Like so many in the integrity free zone of the current Conservative “leadership”, in his lust to be Prime Minister he puts his own ambitions before party, party before country and power before principles.

Re: Brexit and Leadership.
Couldn't agree more, Boris is a buffoon who should have resigned on Friday, his judgement was as bad as always. However, this might all be academic, enter stage right Mr Farage who's returning to front line UK politics. There is now a strong chance that the once almost defunct UKIP party will re emerge, there is very strong feeling against the Tories who ran on a manifesto and subsequently reneged, Mrs May has caused party members to rip up their membership cards in droves. Mrs May will of course ignore this threat, she's way too far up her own bum to think Farage could challenge the Tory party. Of course he doesn't need to, UKIP will once again seriously dilute the Tory vote, maybe to the point where Corbyn could become leader, the #brexit mp's will be given a choice, force May to backtrack on her current plans and pursue a hard Brexit which is after all what was voted for in the referendum or lose the next election.
