Traveling to Koh Samui.
Traveling to Koh Samui.
I have decided to go down to Samui for a week in August. Once I have arrived in Suvabhumi. Will I have to go over to DM to get a cheapish airline and do they still use the Shuttle bus to DM from Swampy ?? also how long doesit take cheers.
Re: Traveling to Koh Samui.
Doesn't Bangkok Air have service from Suvarnabhumi to Samui? Or am I mixing it up with another destination?

Re: Traveling to Koh Samui.
Thai Airways stopped it's flights to Samui, only BKK Airways left and they depart from Suvarnaphum.
Cheaper flights however to Surat Thani possible from DMK.

Re: Traveling to Koh Samui.
sort of defeats the object really if you are going to fly to BKK and then fly to Surat and then get a bus and then get a ferry ......... might as well save on the expense and drive from Udon
extra benefits are you have your own wheels to get round instead of needing taxis or tour cos everywhere and if you want to come home a day early or two days late "no problem" no flights to rearrange and no penalty charges Fancy a couple of days in Krabi /Phuket/Hua Hin its up to you with your own transport =D>

Re: Traveling to Koh Samui.
You're correct, 747. The ride sux, and the 90 minute ferry ride sux more. If I ever had a reason to go again, I would fly in and fly out -- get a hotel close to everything that I want to do so I can walk because one road around the entire island also sux.

Re: Traveling to Koh Samui.
Thai are showing as two flights a day. Not sure whether thats on-going as I just searched 3rd August as an example.
You are looking at between £105 & £130 one way though whether you use Bangkok Air or Thai

Plus humping all my luggage around
Re: Traveling to Koh Samui.
If trying to do on the cheap you could always get a VIP bus from Suvarnabhumi, then ferry & a tuktuk to the hotel.
This one looks like its still got decent tread on the tyres

About 10 times 747
Years ago I would always do it in one hit dep Udon in the evening and get an early morning ferry but with the added traffic and worsening road conditions now it takes virtually as long to get to HH so I usually break the journey and have a night in Soi 80 now

Re: Traveling to Koh Samui.
Theres an idea Vlad BKK to HH (only a few hours), couple of nights exploring the varied delights of Soi 80 or even Bintabaht then another bus down to the Samui ferry
