Frozen Pensions for UK Pensioners

Post by broon97 » October 1, 2018, 7:44 pm

There is now an organisation which is lobbying Parliament to end the frozen pension situation.
If you are a UK pensioner it is of interest to you.
You can sign the petition and also email the Prime Minister

In my posts all fees and requirements are the standard R&R but TIT and a brown envelope can make incredible changes YMMV.

Done. I get the full pension, but cannot agree with this policy.

I am still surving on the same pension amount I retired with 20 years ago.Thank god I had the forsight to subscribe to a private one as well during my working life .Now with the collapse of the pound I would really be struggling .Definitely signing the protest, although have personally raised this point when the iron lady was in charge with absolutely no positive response so not holding my breath. How about the latest crime against us with the bereavement benefit only being paid to widows resident in the Uk or a supporting country. Maybe they will lose it to when we are out of Europe.

Does frozen mean Brits outside the UK don't get any increases pensioners resident in the UK get? Each country has different rules on these kinds of thing.

I'm from New Zealand. If we are outside NZ for more than 6 months in a year, we forfeit our right to the government pension while abroad. If we incorrectly received it, the NZ government is aggressive in seeking its money back.

I suppose a lot of this comes down to how many expats vote.

Mine was Frozen a few years ago and they are taking out 30% of it each month because I was err a little
late in informing them of my retirement to Thailand . My feelings have always been that if you have worked and
earned a pension What the hell has my choice of retirement venue got to do with them ?? What I receive from barely
covers my Monthly Dog food bill yet they still want me to qualify my existence with a Business owners signature and
stamp annually . Thank goodness my substantial USA pension does not require all this petty nonsense

I'm more concerned about NHS! Because I'm not a "resident' I dont qualify for my eligible treatment.
I have never been out of a job in my life, always paid tax and National health contributions.
Now, They stop my NHS treatment! OK give me back my money I paid in for 60 years!
This to me is a default on a contract. But UK Goverment make their own rules up to suit themselves.
All they seem to want do is take care of riff raf foreigners. So glad I here!

It's a disgusting money grab and they're all at it, only some are more earnest than others.

Yes and No. if the UK has a reciprocal agreement (for example The Philippines) you get the same increases as UK residents if they don't (Thailand) your pension is frozen.
