Sad to read on the other forum that Stan died yesterday. Older members will remenber him from the original night market meeting held at Preecha market where he was one of the regulars. RIP Stan, you will be missed .
Just noticed he lately used the name nkstan on this forum .

Very sad news ,, one of the longest residing Udonites and forums member Stan was a regular at both CC outlets and the Bookhouse nearby really nice helpful guy who was crazy about his shitzu dog. Instrumental in bringing Dr Den to Udon to assist expats with aches n pains.
RIP Stan

Another one of the originals has passed on.
Fond memories of our early sparing, but soon forgotten.

OH Stan. I remember him from years ago.
We had Meetups at the old night market.
(Before the clown keyboard brigade appeared)
Used to bring his small dog and sit him on the table where people ate from LOL
Nice guy! No nonsense. Good to talk with.
Nice to know you Stan RIP

Yes, indeed I know and remember Stan well. From early Udonmap days at the meetings in Udon night market in 2006 and much later when I moved to Nong Khai. He would often cycle along the Rimkhong in Nong Khai and stop for a chat.
Oh dear, yet another one bites the dust.
RIP Stan.

Re: Stan Smith, BKKSTAN
Sad news indeed, the loss of another of those who was knowledgeable, helpful and informative - both on the forum and in person.
Stan joined the UM forum in July 2005 and, with over 9,000 posts since then, was the fifth most prolific poster since the launching of UM (v2) earlier that month.
Although living in Nong Khai (for most of the time he was in Thailand) Stan and his dog were frequent attendees at the night market meetings.
While Stan was always a welcome presence at the night market, not everyone was fully appreciative of his dog occasionally walking on the tables (probably the only area where Stan never gave two hoots about the opinions of others).
From his working life and his own experience Stan was well aware of how thoroughly debilitating back problems could be and, through the forum, helped to link members with an experienced doctor who could help alleviate their back problems.
RIP Stan

Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.
Re: Stan Smith, BKKSTAN
Rest in Peace Stan. Like many others, we first met at the night market, this one a special holiday party, held late December 2005.
