Help needed to clean tiles

Post by Photoman » October 15, 2018, 11:21 pm

Hi

I've had various tiling jobs carried out but the wonderful builder has left cement and paint splashes all the black non slip floor tiles . Any ideas ? .

I am from the UK and there is a acid like product to clean brickwork etc , and I wonder if there is a simular product here .

Thank you

any shop like global/thaiwatsa...has products to remove stains on tiles , fe homepro/boonthavorn are selling the HG brand products which are very good but not cheap , what i used to clean tiles after dirty work is a dilution of hydrochloric acid (i have it for the swim anyway ) and water , but beware/careful if you are not used to working with this ,use protective gloves enc...,because it is as it says ...acid... ;)

Simple and cheap option to get the cement residue off of the newly laid tiles is cooking oil and a green scrubber. Then wash off with soap and water.

O K , If you have porcelain tiles theres a very good chance that the paint has soaked into the grain of the tile and is embedded into the tile and not just the surface .
If this is the case , you my friend have a nightmare on your hands.

I had that problem with latex paint drops on the tile floor. None of the cleaners I tried would touch them. I finally used a razor blade scraper. That made short work of them. It also worked well on windows.

Actually I would have been better off doing the painting myself. Not much more work.

This just goes to prove that there has to be a basic sequence during construction - and I can't think of anything that comes further down the sequence than floor tiles. My build is still about two months away from lockup, but I am keen to be able to stay overnight on weekends. To this end, I have jumped ahead with the (2nd) bedroom, and have rendered and painted it inside and out. Last weekend we hung the door with a keyed lock - didn't want render and paint over the door, so it was last. It is now usable, even though there is no ceiling or floor tiles. Of course, the floor tiles will be the last thing on the list.
