The Washington Post says today’s US trade figures show that Donald Trump’s trade policies aren’t helping the US economy. They also point out that the trade in goods deficit (ignoring services) has hit a record high.

President Trump’s tariffs and tough policies have failed to shrink a trade gap that he argues represents a massive transfer of wealth from Americans to foreigners. He begins his reelection drive with a core campaign promise unfulfilled — and with a recent flurry of economic research showing that his embrace of tariffs is damaging the U.S. economy.

The Census Bureau agree with this analysis... US trade deficit grew $69 billion in 2018, hitting a 10-year high. This despite President Trump’s efforts to revive American manufacturing & reduce dependence on imported goods. Since Trump took office, deficit has grown by about $100 billion, Census Bureau reports.

Migrant Families Arrive In Busloads As Border Crossings Hit 10-Year High

The U.S. Border Patrol apprehended more than 66,000 migrants at the Southern border in February, the highest total for a single month in almost a decade.

The number of people taken into custody along the Mexico border jumped an additional 31 percent last month as an unprecedented mass migration of families from Central America pushes unauthorized crossings to the highest levels in a decade, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection figures released Tuesday.

Last month, the shortest of the year, was the busiest February at the border since 2007, officials said, with authorities detaining 76,103 migrants, up from 58,207 in January. The percentage of migrants who arrived as part of a family group also reached a new peak, with 40,325 parents and children taken into custody, a 67 percent leap from the previous month.

Gonna be hard to win a lawsuit against Trump over his emergency declaration on the southern border.

Sort of. One of Trump's main arguments has been that the southern border is where most of the illegal drugs come into the U.S. That is simply not true. Ask any of the responsible governmental agencies, -- DHS, CBP, DEA, take your pick.

Yes, but if you read a bit more, I'm confident that you'll find that most of the drug smuggling across the border comes in through already regulated checkpoints, where it's hidden in cars, trucks, etc. People aren't carrying tons of drugs across the border on their backs in knapsacks.

I'm not saying that I disagree with the idea of securing the border; but it's not going to affect the flow of drugs substantially.

The Foreign military's and Police will also not want to see the flow of drug trafficking become less as they are supported by the US with funds equipment and techniques. As I have mentioned before if I was a General in Columbia/Mexico and getting state of the art equipment and loads of US Dollars, it would stop if I defeated the flow of drugs, so why stop it and have the USA stop their support for my cause?

It's CAUGHT at ports of entry because that's where barriers, staff and technology are located. There's no way to catch drug smugglers in the wilderness areas with no barriers, personnel and technology. Tons arrive at their destination.

You're not suggesting they use "corridors" and "tunnels" that aren't monitored by the DEA? Surely they ALWAYS use roads and entry points where they might get caught!

Vince, I appreciate your concern, but this is the remedy that has been agreed upon with Paul's blessing and approval.

Both Paul and I believe in free speech, and he has defended me against calls to ban me because I haven't broken any rules.

The complainers didn't want to see anymore of my news graphics in news threads about trade, the EU, the UK, Trump, etc. -- even though I suspect, and some admitted, that they didn't want to see MY posts at all. But we're no longer debating that. Moving on.

I will continue to post in all the other threads in the forum, but no one will see the news graphics anymore -- unless they come into a thread that they don't want to see. The news graphics will all be here for anyone who wants to see, read, discuss, etc. They'll all be here.

So now, no one will have to see any of the news graphics in the discussion threads.

I think it was fair, and I publicly thank Paul for defending me and his cooperation and efforts toward free speech.
