I promised an update after my 2nd trip to Nong's, so here it is.

I knew it wouldn't take long for jetdoc to get another BBQ craving, and sure enough he called last Friday night and said to meet him there. I tried to guide our tuk tuk driver as best I could. He wasn't quite sure where to go, but when we got there he told us that Soi was known as "Soi Katoey"? The actual name of the Soi is Ruamjit (Udon Map N-14) and I guess it was at one time a favorite ladyboy hangout, but rest assured ladyboys are not a problem in the area today. Not sure I'd tell a tuk tuk driver to take you to Soi Katoey though? Might end up in the wrong part of town. #-o

Back to the food, I can happily say that Nong's was just as good the second time around. Here's my 1/2 kilo of ribs . . .

. . . and here's how they looked about 30 minutes later. :D

We decided to order another 1/2 kilo. Luckily jetdoc's nephew was present to help polish them off.

Here's what the place looks like

And the sign

I confirmed with Eddie that the sauce is a honey-based sauce, which I normally don't like, but this sauce is different, once again finger-licking good. :D Also notice that, as a result of comments from this forum, they now have cloth napkins. I cannot reccommend this place enough. I suspect Eddie will be seeing way too much of me in the future. =D>

Yes the sauce is not the normal barbecue style, more like a Chinese Szechuan sauce, delicious though.

Excellent pics vic !!! now we are talking honey in the sauce that sounds great.

c'mon arjay no one eats the bit of tomato or the peice of green stuff, its purely for decor only or rabbits..,i like the tiny peice of tissue on the"after" plate too.
but i think my Mrs would have sucked the bones dry. =D>

Must be getting quiet on the forum.

I have just read through this thread and theres about 3 pages discussing a 15 baht price increase on some ribs from some place that apparently is quite popular and half a dozen threads from people counting how many french fries they get served.
Ah well
Takes all kinds I guess.

yo guys, i only raised the price, i didn't ask for your first born. but seriously, our price has gone up by 19% since opening. the first 10% i asked nong to absorb, the second 9 % i couldn't absorb. now to address a few comments made. Val, yes, i am sure you can buy ribs at 50B kilo, but is it the same fine Thia market standards of Quality? not sold yesterday, today or tomorrow or the next day, still 50B ? our ribs are ALWAYS FRESH and always kept in the fridge. our ribs are the best I have ever had here in Thailand. Period !!! and Doc, sorry we can't make them fall off the bone, but one quote comes to me " I DON'T THINK WE ARE IN KANSAS (CITY) TOTO" i had e-mailed Rito prior to our price increase and advised him to pass 0onto all Forum members that they can get 5% discount on their bill no matter what the price, just to show our appreciation. and lastly, FINE PRINT ??? #-o it looks fairly visable to me in our ad. i hope to see all of you soon or at least in the coming months. thanks for your support. Oops my bad, sorry Eddie I screwed the pooch on that one. I misunderstood, I thought you meant for the forum members that were in attendance that night.

FYI to all, it's true Eddie emailed me but I failed to pass it on...

Hi Eddie, don't doubt your ribs are very fresh but they don't come any fresher than our local market. We here them squeeling about 3.00am then they are cut and on display by 5.00 still warm from life blood.Sold out by 7.00am. every day.

Fast Eddie, glad to see you posting here. 90% of the posts have been in favor of the ribs so keep that grill hot, bro. You remember what the DIs used to say about the other "10%", no doubt.

Rito and Eddie, we might have to start up a MCL chapter if this keeps up. Semper Fi, Mac.
