Brexit didn't need to have involved any racism but Farage chose to deploy it.

The referendum could have been a respectful, truthful debate about sovereignty, self-governance, the relationship between immigration and public services, democratic control etc but Farage turned it into something very ugly.

For example, he chose to use this poster which depicts Syrian refugees, who have no rights to come here under EU law, to scare people about EU immigration. The UK is not part of the EU's Common Asylum Policy, which means that none of the refugees in the poster had any right to come here under EU law.

not quite right , the refugees entering Europe will eventually get an EU passport from whatever country they applied too. once they have that they are free too move anywhere in Europe including the UK. I'm anti racist , and for all those that throw the racist card at UKIP and the like. 75% of EU migrants eventually return too their own country after working the UK , but figures show most migrants to the uk are from outside the EU. The independence vote is about the EU but the narrative is that somehow Britain is racist, if that's true why does the UK accept so many Africans, Indians ,Pakistanis but somehow trying to control free movement of polish , Lithuanians and the like make Brits racist. Brexit is about not being part of the EU , migration is just part of the story, there's 99 other reasons not to be part of the EU

Farage has stated that refugees are different from economic migrants and is in favour of allowing genuine refugees into the UK. So why did he use that photo of Syrian refugees escaping war. They were genuine refugees, many saw their families killed in front of them, their houses bombed and their towns completely destroyed. Sorry but I still think he used it to stir up racist and xenophobic sentiments to further his aims.

The unpopularity of Theresa May’s leadership was laid bare in a Conservative Home survey, members also revealed less than 25 percent of members were planning to vote Tory in the May 23 poll.

The Prime Minister’s decision to hold talks with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and ask the EU for another extension after repeatedly promised to leave on March 29 appears to be the final straws for many Tories.

The latest developments come as Change UK, the UK’s pro-EU party, begin plans to launch their campaign in Bristol on Tuesday.

both Tory and Labour are becoming more and more aware of what is about to be fall them in the upcoming elections. Labour will be punished for trying to insist that Brexit sees a continued link via the Customs Union together with any other element that ties us to the EU and the Tories are about to be handed their collective backsides for delaying Brexit to suit the Banks and Business. The LibDems well given their opinions they will be lucky to survive at all... Wait until the morning after the various elections that are upcoming to hear the whining and moaning from all the political parties about a lack of voter interest, a lack of their councillors, their MEP's etc. Wait for the complaints coming out of party HQ's telling the media how hard life is and why are they being punished, what have they done to deserve all this. The political elite with their MSM. backing have for years treated the voters (with the exception) of short times before elections, with utter scorn and contempt. England was probably the first country to have a rebellion against the ruling elite. Perhaps full circle now and people are going to deliver a resounding 'kick in the ar*e to the useless self serving politicians. I also look forward to the mornings after these upcoming elections. Bob Barlow has been a life-long Conservative voter — until now. Three years after the UK voted to leave the EU, he cannot bring himself to endorse a party that has failed to deliver Brexit.

“I can’t vote for Theresa May,” said the 72-year-old Leave voter, tucking into a portion of fish and chips in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, where the Tories are defending their tenuous hold on the borough council this week. “I just won’t vote Conservative again until the leader changes.”

The impasse in parliament over the UK prime minister’s Brexit deal is threatening to inflict heavy losses on the Conservative party, as voters across 248 councils in England go to the polls on Thursday.

It will be the first real indication of the cost at the polling booth for Britain’s ruling party of the chaos in Westminster — ahead of likely elections to the European Parliament at the end of the month and a possible general election later this year.

The initial auguries are far from encouraging for the Conservatives. In Southend, where the party holds a majority of just five seats on the borough council, a succession of Tory voters made clear their reluctance to send a message of support for Mrs May.

Interesting poll reported in The Telegraph and conducted by ComRes.

The majority of Britons want BREXIT delivered "by any means" necessary. Numbering 54% of those polled, Britons want it to happen even if it means suspending Parliament to stop MPs from cancelling or delaying it further.

Conservatives polled - 76%
Labour voters - 32%
Liberal Dems - 25%

54% agree - IF you disregard the 19% who answered "don't know".

If you do account for those "don't knows", the result is:

Disagree - 37%
