I'm always sceptical about these so called 'polls' as they never specify where/when/how/what population sector/what age group etc were polled. The local newspaper in Nottingham polled every house on one street and got a 96% remain vote. On the same day they polled every house on another street in a different part of the town and got a 97% leave vote. Both polls were of a similar number of households.

The fact remains that in the UK Government organised referendum a majority of voters chose to leave the EU and the Goverment has failed to deliver the peoples wishes (under the UK's system of democracy). It is now that democracy that is in danger, as those elected to carry out the peoples wishes fail to do so.

Correct , only ONE poll is relevant, and that was the referendum when a record number of voters across the entire country voted. That vote was emphatic.....LEAVE THE EU. All these subsequent polls are completely irrelevant and a waste of time.

There is absolutely nothing within the system of UK Parliamentary democracy that requires Members of Parliament to vote for the UK to commit economic suicide just to pander to a squalid bunch of stunningly ignorant and economically illiterate bigots.

Extract from "The role of the Member"
The first duty of a member of Parliament is to do what he thinks in his faithful and disinterested judgement is right and necessary for the honour and safety of Great Britain.

His second duty is to his constituents, of whom he is the representative but not the delegate. Burke's famous declaration on this subject is well known.

It is only in the third place that his duty to party organization or programme takes rank.

All these three loyalties should be observed, but there in no doubt of the order in which they stand under any healthy manifestation of democracy.'

Sir Winston Churchill on the Duties of a Member of Parliament.

Keep up the childish insults, usually proof that you do not have any real argument, or perhaps you are just a poor loser.

Political Science 101

A delegate -- An elected official carries out the wishes of the constituency.
A trustee -- An elected official does what he/she thinks is best for the constituency.
A politico -- An elected official does a little bit of both depending on the situation, a hybrid.

Be careful who you elect to represent you, especially in a caste structure where the high society has absolute contempt for the filthy, little people.

So we are commiting economic suicide ?
What about the Common Agriculture Policy, which, whilst basically only benefits ONE country and in many cases pays farmers to keep fields fallow, not to mention the Fishing policy that forces fishermen to put dead fish back in the see.

JimboP SM

Your post basically portrays bigotry by grouping everyone together as ignorant and bigots because it does'nt match your own opinion.

Also labelling such a huge percentage of the electorate as Squalid shows what a knucklehead you are.

You obviously live in some remote paradise where you have no interaction with real people and can do and say what you like without having to have frequent hospital visits to have your facial injuries repaired. Pretty shocking that Britons would spend their days roundly denouncing the American political system while this circus is abound.

What will it take for the Britons to wake up and understand theirs is not a democratic system, and never has been, but instead a leftover of the feudal shitshow where the people with land and money told the rest of the stupid twats how things were going to work?

People voted on a load of disinformation (both sides) and lies (mainly leave campaign), And not a word was said about HOW we should leave. Now we know what deal is available, an INFORMED choice can be made. Time for another referendum, with specific options.

Of course, Brexiteers do not want another vote, because they know they would lose. Democratic, yes?

The only deal worth considering is leave with no deal, trade under WTO rules, don't pay a blind penny to the EU. Put up with a couple of years of slightly lower growth and if the EU wants an alternative to WTO rules we set the agenda not them. We have capitulated to every demand the EU have made under May's deal with absolutely nothing in return.

No. They don't want another vote because despite being old and uneducated, they better understand the huge fallout for Great Britain if politicians agree to ignore the result and have another go. If one thinks that the economic downside of turning our backs to the EU with no-deal is too terrible to countenance, then consider what turning our backs on our own people will do. To summarily dismiss the Leavers votes and voices as inconvenient or irrelevant may well get the United Kingdom out of Europe but any notion of being either United or Great will die along with their faith in government.

The Brexit vote was always about Leave or Remain and ONLY about that choice. The Tories and the rest of the Remain camp were so cock-sure of a resounding preference for the status quo, they hadn't considered any other result. The fact that they were blindsided by the desires of the electorate isn't any excuse for them being so unprepared when it came to the divorce negotiations. They did the nation a great disservice by tabling the Brexit vote in the first place, playing fast and loose with the country's future for some near-term, personal political gain.

But it is done and the most undemocratic thing they could do is offer the Remainers a mulligan.
