Well Rick, careful the BBC might want to recruit you.

You state that the Lib Dems plus Greens polled more than the Brexit party

So how does the Libs/ Greens on 27.7% beat the the Brexit total of 31.7%?

Perhaps t you read the UK;s Guardian and Independent

Oh yes perhaps people did not know what they were voting for. Lets have a re run.

since the remainer partys are not likely to work together it make no difference what theyre total is .labour have been hammered in wales scotland and london so corbyn the bogeyman wont be begging for a general election as he wont win ..prolly nobody would win outright so a brexit + tory pact seems most likely .bojo and farage .
the old cloth cap labour voters that supported for labour for 100 years have melted away to brexit so labour wont be holding power any time soon ..thank the lord ..
a hard brexit when time runs out seems likely unless bojo can get a quick exit as tories will cease to exist otherwise and labour are screwed too when it comes to winning a GE..

BREXIT SHOCK: Boris Johnson would SHAKE UP Brussels 'by handing Farage a cabinet role'
TORY leadership hopeful Boris Johnson could pledge to bring Nigel Farage into his cabinet in a shock move to deliver Brexit and recover from the EU election humiliation.
Boris Johnson is the current frontrunner to win the Tory leadership contest, which will be decided at the end of July.

Last night’s European elections in the UK saw Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party come out as the clear winner, with the pro-EU Lib Dems coming second.

The Brexit Party, which was only founded six weeks ago, topped the polls with an astonishing 33 percent.

In contrast, the Conservatives and Labour suffered heavy losses, with the former expected to get less than 10 percent of the vote.

Although at first sight it looks like great news for Brexiteers and the Brexit party, if you look a little closer not so. The liberals and greens (both very pro-remain) got very substantial gains in vote share, and actually polled more than the Brexit party when combined. The other Pro-remain party didn't get it's act together in time to get anywhere, but still beat the old UKIP (who came in 8th place). The conservatives have probably had there worst election result ina hundred years.

The reality is that the UK is still as divided over Europe as ever. It is also a wakeup call to the major parties that on such big issues they need a clear stand. Fence sitting just means you loose from both sides, not one. Both parties were ambiguous on this for fear of loosing votes. Instead they lost more.

As the big parties cannot resolve it, only one answer - put it to the people. Of course the Brexiteers will say we voted already, but that was 3 years ago with a lot of false claims being made. old voters have died. new ones have become eligible to vote, and some will have changed their minds. A new mandate is needed.
The Sun draws a different conclusion from those who are pretending the vote for Remain was Higher than Leave. The Remainers are adding the percentages of all the so called Remain parties. This is not a true reflection of preference for Remain, because some of those voting for them had other reasons. For instance how many voted Green because their main concern is climate change, especially after the demonstrations recently. The SNP would have received a high vote anyway. For the parties in the last EU elections we should be looking at how much their vote has gone up, to assess how many more voted purely because they want to Remain. If you look at the vote swing, it is: Lib Dems + 13.4 % Greens + 4.2 % SNP + 1.1 % Plaid Cymru + 1.0 % Change UK + 3.4 % The total share of the vote that can be attributed purely to Remain is 23.1 % The Leave parties only had one issue of course, to Leave the EU. Brexit Party 31.6 % UKIP 3.3 % The total share of the vote that can be attributed purely to Leave is 34.9 %. Based on this assessment the Leave vote was 11.8 % higher than Remain. I'm Not saying this is an accurate figure, but it does demonstrate that just adding the so called Remain Parties votes together is misleading, and to pretend the Remain vote was higher than Leave is dishonest.

We have already left the EU there is a legal case in the courts which will prove this and all the remainers are in a panic and want a second referendum to try to stop this because under our referendum which was taken in 2016 and it is now legally written in our Constitution we should have left on 29 March 2019 it is written in law and there is absolutely nothing that they can do about it and they know it, the only way they can change it is by another referendum, and who in their right mind would believe that any referendum would be legally run and not jerk by these corrupt morons in our whole of Parliament . I would never believe that they would vote properly if they cannot respect the first referendum then they will certainly never respect a second one, a third one, a fourth one or however many are run, if the outcome is Leave. So get ready to leave. Westminster stinks to the hilt of corruption. I do hope that the case against Boris get an outcome because I would love to see Tony Blair, Treason May, Gordon Brown, John Major and many many many more of these corrupt so and so's brought to justice for the lies and downright corruption that they have been doing against us the public and their own parties. Every person in the country should be asking why this legal case has been kept out of the papers and social media. I wonder what excuse the corrupt toe-rags would come up with. This is proof in itself that these people who call themselves honourable politicians do not have an honourable bone in their bodies and as for honesty and democracy, they have made this country a complete laughing stock all over the world. They are all unelectable people. It is time to clear the swamp and cleans the stench of corruption from Westminster.

For those who want to play the numbers/percentages game, agreed as mentioned above, some people would have voted for the Green Party purely for their save the plant agenda, rather than because they were a remain party.

Also, and more significantly, it would seem only fair to add in the Conservative votes with the Leaves, as the Conservatives were a Leave party.

Jeremy Corbin and and Labour didn't know what they were, although in the 2017 general election, they too had promised to honour Brexit.

The referendum result of 2016 would have been overturned in the courts had it been a binding referendum due to illegal practices by the Leave campaign, including funding from Russia through Aron Banks. Apparently it didn't really matter because the referendum was only advisory for the sitting government.

The Vote Leave campaign also promised many different forms of separation from the EU. Leaving was always associated with a trade deal which, depending on which bullshitter was talking, would provide some, all or more than the current relationship with the other 27 members of the EU.

NO ONE mentioned leaving without a trade deal in advance. Even the hard core Brexiteers were at pains to deny that was a possibility. "British jobs will be safe", "they need us more than we need them", "the Germans need us to buy their cars" etc.

The most likely version of Brexit now was never put to the people to vote on. If only for national unity the final exit arrangement should be put to the people to vote on. At least the outcome would then be decided by informed consent.
