Non Immigrant O or OA Visa
Re: Non Immigrant O or OA Visa
Did the visa renewal this week.
Bank letter at SCB was 200 baht.
In and out of Immigration in 20 minutes -- which included the 90 Day Report, which was now on the same day as the visa renewal. It took longer at SCB for the bank letter, but not anyone's fault. Just a lot of reading and paper shuffling.
Nakhon Sawan Immigration has a "within a week" policy on their bank letters. Doesn't have to be the same day. I asked the IO in Udon Thani if they ever planned to do it that way, and the big boss said probably not because so many foreigners here.

I remember that milestone in my adventure. Took my watch off when I landed in BKK and never wore a watch again.

Good one Lone Star, I threw my Watch away 15 years ago, haven't worn one since.
Might just have to do the same with my Mobile Phone, when I arrive
PS. Happy 04 July

yes Get taxi on the Thai side
It will take you to the consulate and then hotel
Pick you up next day at hotel and return you to Thailand via passport pickup

Re: Non Immigrant O or OA Visa
My advice don't go on Monday. Went last minday and at least 100 in the queue by 8.15am. Took me until 12.15 to get done. 4 hours standing outside.
Or if you do go on a Monday pay one of the touts 300 baht to jump the queue.
I stayed at Savan Casino. Room was a dump and bed terrible. Not recommended.
I didn't see anyone on the Thai side offering taxi rides through immagration and into Laos. As it happens the bus across the bridge is easy enough. Buy your ticket on the left hand side before going through passport control in Thailand side.
Good luck.

Good luck to you . Sometimes its not easy to adjust to not living by the clock , but you get a nice feeling you can do whatever you want on a daily basis.
On a down note , you no longer get weekends and bank holidays off !!!!!

Thanks and how true.
Working out what to do every day, to fill that void will be difficult, I expect.
Some days will be good with that spare time and others?? well we will see

Re: Non Immigrant O or OA Visa
yeah i did this visa run last week.i changed from a monday as several guys said it was a no no with waits of up to 4 hours in the sunshine.TAXIfor7/11 wrote: ↑July 12, 2019, 1:38 pmApparently mondays and thursdays are the days the visa buses do their runs so extra busy
instead i went wednesday morning and picked up the visa thursday afternoon.got therearound 8.30 only 3 guys ahead of me and same for pick up the next day.
parked on the left hand side near the bridge...no sign of taxis taking you over so paid 50 baht for the bus....tuk tuks a bit of a rip off in savannerkhet 200 baht a person so 400 for 2.
but hey the cheap beer laos makes up for it.only about 40 baht for a big one in the nightmarket and thers a couple of places near the river that has the promo beer girls who are cute and frendly.
not too much to do in savannerket but its ok.id stay near the river or nightmarket...pilgrims inn and queens inn are in a good position.a few eating places around including an indian.
overlooking the river thers a big shop that sells fake louis vutton, prada, chanel etc its next to a hotel that has rooms for 800 baht including breakfast and i think has a swiming pool too.

I have tried going without a watch several times during my years in Thailand. My father in law would gift me with a watch after about a month of not wearing one. Oh, well.

Oh well 4 months here supposedly retired and slowly going round the bend.dunroaming wrote: ↑July 14, 2019, 8:53 pmTried it for 3 years then decided missed the crack back working again in Kazakhstan not so much for the money but to stop myself stagnating
So decided to go back to work for another couple of years or whatever.
Leave Thailand next week, but will come back every two months, to visit, like before.
So now I can throw the Non Imm O-A Visa in the bin, no more 90 Day Reporting to do and I will come back as a Tourist, every two months.

A change of personal circumstance, plus I just can't sit an twiddle my thumbs all day. Managed to keep myself busy part of the time, but some days are just very slow.
Plus I am still at an age to do it, at least for a few more years. Another two - three years down the track and it will be a little more difficult to break back into that job market. So it's now or never.
There is no recession or slowdown, where I am going and there won't be one for at least another 3 years, if not longer.

Sorry to hear that, but good for you that you have a skill that you can go back to. For me, once it's done, it's done, there won't be a market for a 57 year old broken down letter carrier to go back to. Best of luck to you and safe travels.pipoz4444 wrote: ↑November 28, 2019, 9:23 pmA change of personal circumstance, plus I just can't sit an twiddle my thumbs all day. Re: Non Immigrant O or OA Visa
It may not be that easy.
You still have a valid OA visa in your passport, which I assume is multi-entry. If the IO sees that when you enter, you will be stamped in for a further 12 months in accordance with the terms of your visa (until the initial 1 year term of the visa expires).
That may possibly (but unlikely) expose you to health insurance issues.
