So besides taking some witnessess who know you and speak Thai to the lady in this Udon Thani Amphur office, typically what other documents should a Farang take with him, for the purpose of getting his Yellow Book, such as,

1.Copy of Passport and Original Passport
2.Copy of Thai Non Imm O-A Visa
3.Any Bank details??
4. Copy of Blue Book of House where you will stay??

Having done mine last month, its worth noting that you MUST have at least 3 months remaining on your visa. mine was done on a multi-entry O-A visa.
Hope this helps.

I had items 1, 3 and 4 but was only on a 60 tourist visa from Vientiene. Dont know how the G/F (now the missus) managed it as all discussion were in Thai at Nong Han Amphur (sure she paid some additional 'fee') But received my yellow book without any real problems.

This seems to be a moving target like many issues with Thailand, so let me give an update as of today.

I have been informed that I need to do the following, will let everybody know if this is successful.

1. Photocopy Passport
2. Get Embassy to certify passport is as per copy, get a lovely official stamp
3. Translate stamped copy passport, get another lovely stamp
4. Lodge paperwork at MFA in BKK, get another lovely stamp
5. Take certified paperwork to Amphur (complete with all lovely stamps)
6. Amphur calls after a few days that paperwork is acceptable
7. Attend Amphur with two witnesses over the age of 18 (I am taking headman and his assistance at my expense)
8. If all is well, issue Yellow Book and Pink card for a small fee.

My situation. Have type O visa, officially married, have TM30.

Looks like a 5,000 THB exercise with airfares and accommodation in BKK for one night.

The requirements are specific to the office that you are applying at. I got mine a few months ago in Ampur Non Sa-At. I did not need 2, 3, 4 and 5 though from submission to return was about a month as the official had a lot of other work.

The TM30 was never mentioned. SWMBO and I married in Thailand.

In my posts all fees and requirements are the standard R&R but TIT and a brown envelope can make incredible changes YMMV.

Years ago when I got my YB at the Udon Amphur, the translation of my passport done by the translation shop on next to Landmark/Tukcom (which just about everyone accepts locally) was all that was needed in addition to the photo copies and witnessing, no Bangkok embassy or MFA malarkey.

But if your list is from the current horses mouth, then I guess the Bangkok trip is required these days.

Forgot to mention in previous post that they also wanted a photograph of us together ( why, I have no idea as we were standing together at the desk) and also 2 local witnesses to verified the address is where I/we stayed (I am pretty sure they said 'not family' but locals.)

When I got my YB some 14 years ago the then wife dealt with the Amphur in UD. Passport shown together with her BB, waited a few minutes book provided after a small fee. No translations, no photos nothing .

Jello,

I could not get yellow book, but for a slightly different reason.

my darling wife, enthusiastically washed a pair of shorts that I just just changed, but had not put in washing basket. My passport was in those shorts. My 'O' visa was not a stick on label, but an ink stamp, that was washed off.

I took the passport to Immigration to get it stamped, the passport was slightly buckled, but not in bad shape, but that difficult guy in immigration told me to buy a new passport. Last trip to Embassy I showed them my passport who said it was OK. However, once again immigration refuses to restamp passport and Ampur refuses to issue Yellow card because no immigration stamp.

I am due back in Oz as soon as flights get a bit more normalised, passport renewal is half price in Oz, so I will replace then and start the charade again in two years time when I return to Thailand.

You are likely to be refused exit from Thailand by immigration.

If you don’t like the cost of flights to Australia now then you have plenty of time to get a new passport. At the moment you are OK but after 31July it may be very different. Don’t try to be too cheap, it could be very expensive and you could be out of Thailand for more than a couple of years.

It's OK. already checked and I have a letter confirming my visa as still valid even if stamp has washed away. I need to change type of visa Dec 6 anyhow. But good advice, thank you.
