Maxxis Tires
Re: Maxxis Tires
Rubber deteriorates after 4/5 years in this climate – no matter how much tread left throw them out and buy new
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left

Re: Maxxis Tires
I used to worry about my tyres when I could see the canvas showing through the rubber, since I've been in Thailand I now realise that is ok and now change them when I can hear the wires "tinking" on the wheel arches.
I recently had a set of 4 Maxxis fitted to my Izuzu 3.0 L pickup, Off Road tread, 11,000bht, that was at a place on Nong Kai road near the gas station and new flyover heading north on the left.
Can't recommend them, it's first time I've bought Maxxis and it's early days,
I was looking for cheap and they looked the business.

Re: Maxxis Tires
Thanks for answers
Thanks Mr passout for the shop location, went to the shop but didn’t have the package I wanted.
Went to tyre plus at Tesco but expensive for Michelin. 6100 per tyre, 2 year guarantee and Goodyear 4950 per tyre.
Eventually went back to a personally known tyre in Yokohama. Have had them on my landcruisers for bush and dirt driving in Aussie. The Yokohama Shop is on the ring road near Boothavorn complex.
Got the Yokohama Geolander go15.
Went for a wider 265/70R17 instead of my current 255. Big tyre with a good footprint. Wheel alignment and balance done. 4800 bht each tyre.
5 year guarantee on the Tyres and rotatio included every 20,000km for the whole 5 years.
They do brakes so while the wheels were off had the front discs replaced and new pads on the back.
1800 bht front 2 wheels and 1800 bht back 2 wheels. 1 year warranty on brakes. 3600 for new brakes.
22,800 all up. Drive away happy and safe.

Re: Maxxis Tires
It's more of a sign that you are driving beyond sensible safe speeds for the road conditions.

In my posts all fees and requirements are the standard R&R but TIT and a brown envelope can make incredible changes YMMV.

Re: Maxxis Tires
That's a sweeping statement Woody, so you think if you make a u turn in the wet that a bald tyre will perform as well as a tyre with tread.
I wonder why F1 cars switch from slicks to wets when its pissing with rain.

Re: Maxxis Tires
Tires get harder as they age. Old tires are treacherous on wet greasy roads. Softer compound tires are much safer. There was no comparison between the seven year old Bridgestones and the new Dunlops. Going to town quite often requires me to make that same u-turn every trip. No slipping and sliding with the new tires.

Re: Maxxis Tires
Had Maxis 700 AT put on a couple of years ago , the difference was instant , they are softer than the previous bridgestone ,a much better grip ,the bridgestone used to squeal like a stuck pig on turns , (eg u-turn at the traffic lights for global house , never failed , even going very slow ) this was from new , so 2 years on and i'm more than pleased with them , yep they may not last as long as the bridgestone but i aint got any squealing piggies ,
Re: Maxxis Tires
In all my years of driving on many different brands of tires, I have had only one blow out. That was many years ago on a set of Firestone Wide Ovals. The blowout happened on a busy Interstate highway at about 80 MPH. The Dodge Challenger handled very well and other than losing the chrome rim ring, which I then couldn't find. There was no loss of control other than the initial panic. It was the left front tire. Firestone had a recall on those tires and I got a new set at no charge. I have had many punctures most from nails but was able to have them changed and repaired before ruining the tire.
Re: Maxxis Tires
I had Maxxis on a Toyota pickup. Sold the car @ 85,000 klms & still plenty of life on them. I do rotate
& balance every 20k, I think this helps.
Will buy again on Pajero when needed.

Re: Maxxis Tires
And for the regular cyclist, locally made bicycle tires may last only a year before the sidewalls start cracking.
Re: Maxxis Tires
one thing that drives me nuts is tyres leaking air
ive come to see the " valve stems" are often suspect. a squirt of silicone helps rubber seal
