"Washington (AFP) - The United States has "very clear evidence" that it took down an Iranian drone despite Tehran's denial, a US official said Friday.
"We have very clear evidence," the US official said, alluding to a possible video.

Iran claims that they've broken up a US CIA ring within their borders. Official US response will not go further -- for intelligence reasons -- than to say that Iran's claim is untrue.
Iran likes to "parade" what they consider successes in front of the cameras. We'll see if they provide a parade for this claim.

UK Ministry of Defense announces that the Royal Navy will escort British-flagged vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Royal Navy has been tasked to accompany British-flagged ships through the strait of Hormuz, either individually or in groups, should sufficient notice be given of their passage. Freedom of navigation is crucial for the global trading system and world economy and we will do all we can to defend it.

with the frigate that was enroute to the gulf that should put two British warships there. Hardly enough to herd every Brit flagged ship through the Strait of Hormuz. The Brits will have to get a coalition of western navies (the Americans are already there) to provide additional ships and quickly.

British navy to escort ships through Strait of Hormuz
The move isn’t a viable long-term solution given the volume of traffic through the vital oil shipping lane and strained British naval resources, experts said
Looks as if the Brits are hurtn when it comes to deploying resources for this new threat

Way back in 2015, there were reports that Israel had successfully invaded Iran's airspace with the F-35 Adir -- a modified version of the F-35. During this particular mission, the Israelis flew to Iran and back without refueling. They circled major cities and military bases while taking surveillance photos the entire time. All of this completed without being detected by Iran's radar or their Russian missiles.
It's a rumor, but is now showing up in Western media reports even more now since Iran fired the head of their air force.
Whether it's true or not, it creates doubt in the minds of Iran, and it reinforces the idea that Iran has lost quite a bit of stroke in the region. The sanctions have weakened Iran and disrupted their financing of chaos abroad. Now Iran needs to wonder if Israel and the US and any allies already know how to launch a quick strike to take out the mullahs and key targets in a matter of days.
And let's get real here. Iran's comedy of dinky speedboats in the Strait of Hormuz already shows that Iran is very likely pretty damn weak. Even the people of Iran sense it.
Any "war" may already be over. Whether the mullahs negotiate or not, their time in power if probably limited.

I doubt Britain has enough warships to protect its own seas , let alone the several dependent territories it has .Doodoo wrote: ↑July 26, 2019, 9:20 amBritish navy to escort ships through Strait of Hormuz

So sending ships to the gulf may take some doing .
To add insult to injury , i heard theyve just sold part of the Admiralty building in London , to be turned into some sort of hotel .

Economy in Iran sliding south quickly.
Iran is changing their currency from the rial to the toman -- and deleting four zeroes from the value. Iran's Central Bank made the announcement this week. Both currency names have been used in Iran's history.
Iran blamed the US for hurting their currency value and causing spiking inflation. I guess the sanctions are working.
The World Bank predicted a 1.9% reduction in Iran's GDP, but it fell 4.9%. There has also been over 75% reduction in Iran's oil exports. Inflation in Iran hit a record high of 48%. These economic declines have also hampered Iran's ability to fund terrorist activities.

Today by nearly every metric the regime and its proxies are weaker than when our pressure began. … Our pressure campaign is working. It is making Iran’s violent and expansionist foreign policy cost prohibitive. In March, Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, went on TV and made a public appeal for donations. Hezbollah has placed piggy banks in grocery stores and in retail outlets seeking the spare change of people.

so will the Iranian people rise up to overthrow the Mullahs or will the Mullahs lash out, doing something stupid to "get attention"?? I'd say the latter since the Mullahs have enough military and paramilitary power within Iran to suppress any peoples' revolt. I'm also inclined to believe that all the brouhaha about U.S. "sanctions" is mostly European nations who get their business interests affected by the domino effect of such sanctions getting their corporations targeted by the U.S. Treasury. Most Asian nations, including China need Iranian oil so ignore the sanctions as much as possible.

I keep wondering about those Piggy banks, Do Muslems have them too? One of my Aunts used to collect them, I think they would have Camel banks or something similar, I understand that anything Piggy might offend.

The EU doesn't trust Iran anymore than the US trusts them. The EU wants to keep making money on the deal. They're putting profits ahead of the safety of their citizens.

Lone Star doesn't realise that China isn't profiting in trade to the detriment of Chinese citizens. Very poor analogy, but not unexpected.
