Democrats now say impeachment hearings/proceedings have begun.

However, actual impeachment proceedings customarily begin when the House passes a resolution authorizing an impeachment inquiry. The latest vote on an impeachment inquiry FAILED -- 95 to 332.

Just more evidence that this is a LIB game of craven, irrational bloodlust that they will play all the way to November 2020.

Still Stalinesque -- searching for a crime with no evidence that a crime was committed or seeking to criminalize legal behavior. Democrats will take anything they can to GET TRUMP.

He's fully committed -- ALL IN ON CHEERING FAILURE. And he's not even good at it.

His latest defense of Obama was a typically pathetic effort. Two things that had nothing to do with kitchen table economics in America and two programs that didn't help ALL Americans.

1. Completing a military operation that was ongoing against a sworn enemy of the US is an expected outcome that would have occurred successfully under any US president's administration with US Navy SEALs or any other special forces military group.

2. Winding down a troop deployment, after the same president increased the US presence in Afghanistan, is another military decision that would have occurred -- and still occurs -- under any US president's administration in a difficult-to-win situation.

3. Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP), as with many of the Obama era programs, not only NO LONGER EXISTS, but it provided what lenders already do -- renegotiate a mortgage that is struggling to be paid off. The federal government just provided some motivation for banks to do more of it. The program didn't help ALL Americans, only home buyers who borrowed beyond their means or hit an unlucky snag in making timely payoffs. Not all minorities are underwater in mortgage payments, so the percentage of minorities or others affected by this was minimal. The program was not of benefit to all Americans. It basically rewarded people who made poor financial decisions -- or helped banks recover mortgage losses after being forced by the federal government to make loans that they ordinarily would not make to unqualified people. Picking winners and losers isn't the role of the federal government.

4. The JOBS Act did not help ALL Americans. Specifically, it only assisted minorities and women who had trouble accessing capital for business startups. The percentage of minorities -- or others -- affected by this was minimal. It was not of benefit to ALL Americans. Again, picking winners and losers isn't the role of the federal government.

=====

Stop and think for a moment about what must be the motivation behind someone who isn't an American, doesn't vote in any US elections, but goes out of his way to find negative news not only about Trump, but negative news that affects US citizens and some citizens of the world in a very negative way -- maybe even his own home country and his personal assets -- and STILL DOES IT WITH GLEE. He is certainly entitled to his opinion, and he can certainly continue his free speech of negativity, but you gotta wonder ...

He's so unfamiliar with the daily politics of the many-faceted political situations that he has to scour the Internet and search for negative headlines (I'll highlight another one to follow). He roothogs information and then incompletely cuts and pastes just enough to reflect negativity -- without having a complete understanding what his source is actually explaining. As a result, his efforts many times DO NOT make his argument, but actually ends up making the point that he is trying to argue against. It has happened multiple times and has been well-documented. I won't dig them all up. They're all in this thread now -- consolidated for anyone who wants to research it.

The effort on behalf of Obama is another that does not meet the objective or fulfill his mission. While his examples did not penalize another American, they were not of benefit to ALL Americans. The military operations ... hell, that's just day-to-day decisions as events unfold in foreign theaters of war. Programs and policies that benefited ALL Americans was a reference to domestic policy: a reference to kitchen table economics that improve the daily working lives of Americans and their families.

It was a high bar to meet for someone like Obama -- the community organizer and social justice warrior who came into office believing that America wasn't so hot and had somehow deprived people of opportunities since 1964. Anyone who says they want to "fundamentally transform America" is intent upon changing core principles. That's what "fundamental" is all about, and it escaped many people; but not me. Efforts made by Obama did not defend the Constitution, did not promote Free Enterprise and did not nurture Individual Liberty -- for ALL Americans.

Comments like "spread the wealth around" and "you didn't build that" and "how much money is enough" and on and on and on were attacks on Free Enterprise and Individual Liberty. It's undeniable.

U.S. Farmers Cry Foul as Their Biggest Export Market Slips Away
A great example of how the headline does NOT reflect the content of the article.
(Bloomberg) -- Want to receive this post in your inbox every day? Sign up for the Terms of Trade newsletter, and follow Bloomberg Economics on Twitter for more.

American soybeans, the humble legumes that have become prominent pawns in the U.S.-China trade war, are drying up in more ways than one.

China, the world’s biggest soy importer, just announced purchases in July jumped to the highest in almost a year. But it’s Brazil that’s satisfying the demand and its stockpiles are dwindling. Losing market share are U.S. farmers who are amplifying their discontent to the Trump administration.

Adding to the stress in the Midwest is a stretch of dry summer weather that’s making this year’s crop look worse than it has the past several years at this point. Weak demand and a lackluster harvest spell trouble for a politically important barometer — farm incomes.

Those grim prospects reflect the collateral damage trade wars inflict and the redirection of supply and demand that tariffs cause. China’s total exports in July unexpectedly rose 3.3% from a year earlier and imports shrank a less-than-expected 5.6%. While shipments to the U.S. dropped almost 7%, Taiwan, South Africa and Brazil were among the buyers of Chinese goods at double-digit increases from a year earlier.

The net result last month was a Chinese trade surplus — $45.1 billion — that doesn’t look much different than the one it posted two years ago, before the effects of higher U.S. tariffs and Chinese retaliation.

Meanwhile, Beijing’s boycott of U.S. agriculture products may not end any time soon. President Donald Trump’s threat of 10% tariffs on the $300 billion of Chinese imports atop 25% levies already on $250 billion of products will arrive at a difficult time for many. The deadline is Sept. 1, the day before the Labor Day holiday in the U.S. and just a few weeks before farmers from Iowa to Ohio start tuning up their harvesters.
Do you see it? I don't see it either. FARMERS CRY FOUL, but not one farmer or Ag Representative quoted in the entire article. Not one. OMG! Farmers crying foul! Yet, not one crying in the entire article.

And here are six media sources that picked up the very same article and ran with it as is ... I looked for more sources, like from CBS or CNBC or CNN with the same article. Couldn't find anymore.

cry foul.jpg

It fully explains why when first posted in this thread, that there was only a sentence or two about it.

More indications of optimism among US workers!

This contributes mightily to consumer confidence and retails sales, which are two of the most important market drivers in the US economy.

CNBC/Survey Monkey Workplace Happiness Index reports every quarter about how Americans feel about their jobs across five categories -- pay, opportunities, recognition, autonomy and meaning. Over 8,000 were polled nationwide across numerous industries. Demographics were based on the US Census.

- Happiness Index - 71 out of 100
- Somewhat or Very Satisfied with their jobs - 85%
- Meaningfulness - 17 out of 20
- Recognition - 15 out of 20
- Autonomy (work/life balance) - 15 out of 20

- 27-30% of those surveyed did not think they were being paid enough and were seriously considering looking for another job.

The poll revealed that the best way to keep workers and insure their happiness is to provide excellent opportunities for advancement, but no solution to that was learned from the survey. This was the lowest performer on the index.

I learned something today that is going to have a huge impact on the China/US Trade War. According to Forbes, OVER HALF -- Over 50% -- of all Chinese manufacturing is done by US-owned multinational corporations.

This strengthens the US position considerably as companies refit their supply chains -- which includes moving out of China into other areas of Asia or back to the US.

Wall Street wants lower rates from The Fed. The multinational companies don't want a lower dollar. So this explains much of the market jitters over China trade AND The Fed.

American businesses have about three weeks to get their businesses in order -- to prepare supply chains for the coming tariff changes. Actually, they should have been doing this for the past few months when it looked like China was backing out of what they had originally agreed to do. Always gotta have a Plan B in business, and gotta pay attention.

These changes will affect how stock analysts view companies and their achievements/failures to meet profit expectations and market reactions.

coon flakes.jpg

More RACIST attacks from LIBs against Black Conservatives. Yes, it happens often. Especially among Black Democrats who attempt to race-shame Black Republicans who support Trump. In this particular case, the Black Conservative has the nerve to run for office as a Republican.

Daniel Cameron is running for Attorney General in Kentucky against a 67-year-old White Democrat.

Dawn Elliot, a liberal Black Democrat lawyer and co-host of a political talk radio show (WLOU 1350 AM), made the assertion against Cameron. Elliot told Cameron to "stop eating the coon flakes". Elliot believes that Trump is "trying to destroy" Black Americans.

Elliot:
“To sit there and be so proud of someone who is an open racist is shameful. Why would anyone of color want to side with someone who is trying to destroy us?”
In Kentucky, the GOP has three minorities running for state offices. Democrats have ZERO.

Cameron:
“This is not about me. Enough is enough. The black community is told day in and day out they have to speak with one voice and that is the voice of the Democratic Party.”
If elected, Cameron would be the first Republican AG in Kentucky since WW2.

Dayton and El Paso victims refused Trunp campaign visit

Post by sometimewoodworker » August 11, 2019, 9:34 am

All the injured in El Passo hospital refused a Trump visit

In Daytio the only injured or relatives trump was permitted to visit was one of his own mental age (a 2 month old baby with dead parents who could not protect it) and an adult who was the only one who could give informed consent .
Total 49 injured 48 either to sick to be visited or just sick of the grandstander in chief.

This is clear evidence of the [ sarcasm ]respect and extreamly high opinion residents of America hold for the current supreme leader and their sympathy for him in his present difficult position of trying to imitate someone who has feelings for other people [/sarcasm]

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/pol ... 959733001/

I have never heard of people injured in an incident capable of receiving a presidential visit refusing.

It is not normal, presidents are supposed to unify not spread hate.

July Report on Tariff Effects - US Department of Labor and US Department of Commerce

Prices for goods rose 0.4% in July, which marks a full month since tariffs on $200 billion rose from 10% to 25%. Excluding food, energy and trade services (which is commonly done in looking at price changes), prices actually fell 0.1%. This marked the first decline since 2015. Economists had predicted double that percentage.

The Producer Price Index rose 0.2 percent for the month and is up just 1.7 percent for the year.

The US government has collected over $60 billion in tariffs year-over-year. The pricing data indicates that consumers aren't paying for the tariffs, which is the constant drumbeat with no data to support it.

Tariffs are not direct taxes like sales taxes. The importers intially pay the tariffs, but it doesn't guarantee that their costs are passed onto consumers. It also doesn't affect consumers unless they purchase imported goods.

Wages rising faster than inflation has also been a factor in all of this.

With China's depreciation of its currency over th epast year, it makes the Chinese imports less expensive. There is also evidence that Chinese manufacturers are slashing prices (while being supplemented by the Chinese government) to continue to cause their procucts to be attractive in price to US importers.

The San Francisco Fed estimated a 0.1% impact on consumers, but if business doesn't pass on the tariff costs, then it's even less than that.

Prices of raw materials for durable goods - down 0.9% ... this is fourth straight monthly decline. Year-over-year, prices are down 4.1%.

Components for durable goods - up 1.1% year-over-year

Final Demand prices - up 1.2% year-over-year

Nondurable goods - down 5.1% year-over-year

Parts - up 0.8% year-over-year

To this point, in the two general categories, there is no inflation in durable goods and low to declining inflation in nondurable goods. No sign of tariff impact.

You can continue your own research on the US Department of Labor and US Department of Commerce web sites. There's a ton of information there that reflects small increases or reductions in price to consumers.

So far, the tariff hoax, that has persisted from those cheering for failure, has not produced any evidence that it is occurring. The Cheerleaders for Failure assumed the purpose of the tariffs was to raise domestic prices to boost prices for US manufacturers. But that has NEVER been the goal of Trump's tariff strategy.

The tariffs have always been to pressure traders to abandon their unfair -- and sometimes illegal -- trade practices.

Uncle Joe is gaffetastic!

No wonder his staff has been hiding him from major gatherings prior to Iowa. HE HAS LOST IT.

Biden brought up the ongoing conversation of gun violence with a group of reporters in Iowa. He claimed that students from Parkland, Florida came to the White House to visit with him while he was vice president. No way.

Bloomberg report:
Biden told reporters in Iowa on Saturday that “those kids in Parkland came up to see me when I was vice president.” But when they visited Capitol Hill to talk with members of Congress, lawmakers were “basically cowering, not wanting to see them. They did not want to face it on camera.”
The students from Parkland, Florida at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School could NOT have visited him while he was vice president. The shooting happened on February 14, 2018, over a year after he left the White House.

Biden is not going to make it at this rate.

CAR SALES FOR JULY 2019

Market cools

U.S. light-vehicle demand was forecast to cool for the seventh straight month in July, several analysts predicted ahead of Thursday's reports. Across the industry, U.S. deliveries dropped 2.4 percent in the first half of the year, with weaker retail demand offset by higher fleet sales.

Higher interest rates and rising transaction prices are undermining showroom traffic, analysts say, even as overall U.S. economic and job growth continues, though at a slower rate.

Average new-vehicle retail transaction prices, driven by the steady consumer shift from cars to light trucks, continue to rise, and were on track to reach $33,065 last month, up sharply from $31,767 in July 2018, J.D. Power estimates.

More hypocrisy by Democrats on GUNS and ILLEGAL ALIENS.

Who is surprised?

Prior to the August recess of Congress, Democrats were pushing a bill known as HR 8 -- "The Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019".

The House Judiciary Committee, the majority of which are Democrats, voted 23-15 to bring the bill to floor of the House.

However, an amendment to the bill by Republican Florida Rep. Greg Steube proposed that law enforcement be notified "when an individual attempting to purchase a firearm fails the background check." This would have also applied to ILLEGAL ALIENS who attempt to purchase a firearm.

Democrats rejected the amendment and proposed the bill without the amendment. It passed the House 240-190, but will probably never pass the Senate in its current form.

Democrats continue their attacks on guns, but seek to protect ILLEGAL ALIENS at all cost.

That damn racist Trump.

Trump has officially endorsed Daniel Cameron for Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Kentucky!

Trump:
"The Republican Party has a new STAR, his name is Daniel Cameron."
Cameron's positions on crime, borders and gun rights mirror those of Trump, and Trump mentioned that in his endorsement.

Cameron won the Republican primary with 55% of the vote -- those damn racist Republicans voted for a black man.

If Cameron is elected as Attorney General, he will be the first Republican to hold that office since 1944.

OH Lip Service
Regarding John Deerre you had best tell the WHOLE story and quit making funny little pictures for your FAN

They are cutting projections for the YEAR

Schmidt says sales at his dealership, in general, declined by as much as 15% in the first half of the year, led by a fall in the demand for large equipment. In a sign of things to come, early orders for planting equipment for next season's soybean and corn crops are down up to 25%.

He is not alone. Half a dozen dealers of Deere's agriculture equipment across the Midwest shared similar accounts in interviews with Reuters. One of those dealers, in Geneseo, Illinois, said sales at his dealership were down 50% so far this year from the same period last year.

HIGHER INVENTORY, PRODUCTION CUTS

To compensate farmers for the market loss due to the trade war, the Trump administration has committed as much as $28 billion in federal aid. The latest tranche of the aid will likely begin to be paid out later this month.

The bailout money, however, is not expected to lift equipment sales.

"We are yet to feel most of the effects of too much water and the lower prices," said Paul Gilsinger, a Deere dealer in Knox, Indiana. "In the second half of the year, demand could slow down further."

To prevent a supply glut, U.S. agricultural machine maker AGCO Corp <AGCO.N> and CNH have slashed production to keep inventory in line with retail demand.

A similar concern prompted Deere to cut production by 20% at two of its large factories in North America.

The "funny little picture" is from YOUR sourced article. It contains the reality. YOU had a chance to tell the whole story when you first posted it. YOU chose to insinuate all the doom and gloom. As usual, your own source shoots big damn holes in your insinuated claim.

Projections are predictions, and even YOUR source stated that weather patterns were contributing to their dealership struggles. Their projections had been higher based on predictions. Now they're lower based on predictions.

Every business goes through ups and downs, and it even happens in Trump's economy. It is always true in a free market system. John Deere is one of the most profitable businesses in the US. It isn't going out of business because of the tariffs.

Life isn't even perfect and wonderful in socialist countries or free market countries that adopt socialist policies. One thing is certain: Under Trump, the US is once again the strongest economy in the world, and the rest of the world knows it. Does it go through ups and downs? Absolutely. But it's not experiencing the economic pains of the rest of the world. Could it? Sure. But I'm not going to spend my days searching for headlines based on negative what ifs. I'll make myself aware of any possibility, but the "experts" have been wrong at just about every turn.

We've been looking at bogus negative doom & gloom headlines like that ever since Trump won the Republican nomination and the general election.
