An alleged mass shooting was thwarted by sheriff's deputy in Pensacola, Florida.
A man brought a handgun into a grocery store and was firing randomly. When sheriff's deputies arrived, the suspect pointed his firearm at them, and one of deputies shot the suspect.
No one else was injured.

There are threads that occasionally begin in the forum that are of individual violent crimes from different places in the world. Rapes in Europe, terror in Europe and the US, stabbings in the UK, shootings in the US, et al. No one whines and complains when these individual threads appear. In fact, there is usually debate and discussion from a wide range of the membership.
Somehow consolidating worldwide violent crimes into one thread now causes the faint-hearted to clutch their pearls in horror.
I smell the CBoS again.
The title of the thread is clear and appears in the proper section of the forum. If Worldwide Violent Crime triggers an emotional response from anyone, don't open the thread. Don't read it.

Juan Javier Reyes-Perez, a 40 year-old illegal alien, has been charged in the shooting death of a 19 year old in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Government prosecutors in Germany have charged three refugees from Iraq with planning an Islamic Jihadi bombing. Two are accused of preparing the attack, and a third is charged with aiding them.
German privacy laws prevent the disclosure of their full names.
Since there is no evidence of their affiliation with known terror organizations, they are not being charged with terrorism; but are being charged through common criminal statutes for the offense.
Authorities were aware of their movements almost the entire time.
The detonator that they ordered from the UK never arrived because UK authorities were notified and the supplier arrested.
Their mission shifted to using a truck bomb, and one of the accused began taking driving classes.

The suspected perps mentioned so far all seem to be men but oddly the posts don't seem to have a vilifying men flavour. I wonder why.

ISIS has taken responsibility for the bombing of a wedding hall in Kabul, which has killed at least 63 people. Another 182 people were injured. The attack came from a suicide bomber.
Shia Muslims were the majority in attendance, and they are commonly attacked by the Sunni Muslim majority in Afghanistan.
Those claiming responsibility said the wedding was targeted because it was Shia.

Three home invaders in Houston were stopped in their attack by an armed resident who had just arrived home. The home invaders had already entered the home and attacked one family member who had just arrived at the residence. Two other family members hid while the attackers went through the house.
When the fourth and fifth family members arrived home with the attack in progress, one of them confronted the invaders and fatally shot one. The other two stole a family vehicle and fled.
None of the family members were seriously hurt.
