We're chewing over current affairs. Some find that more difficult than others. I think the key is to try to stick to the issues and to accept others will have different opinions.

I think an administrative and logistic nightmare awaits the UK on 1 November. Not enough preparation seems to have been done while May was in office.

Do you think goods are going to flow in and out of the UK easily on 1 November? I'd be very surprised if that was so. That's not an argument against Brexit.

And that gentlemen (including the upside down ones) is the crux of the matter. Just remember that the EU exports more to the UK than we do to them. If Macron and his bully boys start to become obstructive at border crossings then no doubt we will return the favour and who will be worse off? As stated previously the UK and the other EU states all trade with other Countries outwith the protectionist EU system pretty well seamlessly and without any gnashing of teeth etc its called WTO rules and does not cost billions to be a member of.

Statto
He is a politician, they all are. Is he any worse than T. May whose mantra was "No deal is better than a bad deal" and then urged us all to back the surrender/capitulation document issued by the EU. Is he any worse than Corbyn who took his salary from Westminster as a British MP while openly supporting a terrorist group killing thousands of British citizens. Lying is part of their job description, he is no worse than most of them and a lot less pathological than some.

Blimey, that answer threw me. It's astonishing and seems rather unworldly. Perhaps the UK and EU need some new infrastructure at the points where goods move between the 2 countries. For example places where longer queues of lorries can be parked up and buildings for thousands more officials to supervise the entry and exit of goods.

And then there's the nightmare for smaller importers and exporters learning and mastering the new paperwork involved in trading across the channel. Getting it wrong might be very costly.

Yea , this is the 21st century ! Your not going to get hundreds of customs men going over every truck , checking every manifest .They may well do that in your little backwater , but there is technology that can scan a 40 foot trailer in seconds .
But as i said it all depends on for they play it on the continent .

You need to see the interview from David Davies, former Brexit secretary, where he talks about Operation Yellowhammer.
He talks about a meeting with the civil servants who drew up the worse case scenario. He was told the delays were due to the port of Calais only having 330 inspection bays. Davies asked them if they had contacted Calais to see if this was still going to be the situation after Brexit. All he got in reply was shrugged shoulders and silence. Davies then got in touch with the port of Calais for an update. Calais have everything in hand and are in the process of building new inspection parking areas to speed up the transportation of goods. The media keep this type of news very quite because it doesn't fit their nonsense agenda.

Whats with this idea of Yellow Hammer being a "worst case scenario" ....... that was disproved days ago when they found the pre cut and paste orig which shows the document with the title as "Base case" (or the EXPECTED scenario) ... The Worst case scenario is the "Black Swan" document, and "kingfisher" is what will be required to stop the country going into meltdown after Brexit.

Welcome to the topic Statto :D
In an earlier post I asked Mr. statto to tell us why he is the only person who has heard of the Black Swan and Kingfisher documents. Why if these documents are in the public domain why the Remainer's (God knows there are enough of the deluded souls) are not screaming there contents to the highest heavens. Guess what? no reply, no evidence presented. Just saying. Plus I have yet to see in any news outlet anything about a cut and paste base document on Yellow Hammer from any of the remain backing MSM, you would have thought they would jump at the chance to publish this. Just saying :-" :-"

Cadbury moved factory to Poland 2011 with EU grant.
Ford Transit moved to Turkey 2013 with EU grant.
Jaguar Land Rover has recently agreed to build a new plant in Slovakia with EU grant, owned by Tata, the same company who have trashed our steel works and emptied the workers pension funds.
Peugeot closed its Ryton (was Rootes Group) plant and moved production to Slovakia with EU grant.
British Army's new Ajax fighting vehicles to be built in SPAIN using SWEDISH steel at the request of the EU to support jobs in Spain with EU grant, rather than Wales.
Dyson gone to Malaysia, with an EU loan.
Crown Closures, Bournemouth (Was METAL BOX), gone to Poland with EU grant, once employed 1,200.
M&S manufacturing gone to far east with EU loan.
Hornby models gone. In fact all toys and models now gone from UK along with the patents all with with EU grants.
Gillette gone to eastern Europe with EU grant.
Texas Instruments Greenock gone to Germany with EU grant.
Indesit at Bodelwyddan Wales gone with EU grant.
Sekisui Alveo said production at its Merthyr Tydfil Industrial Park foam plant will relocate production to Roermond in the Netherlands, with EU funding.
Hoover Merthyr factory moved out of UK to Czech Republic and the Far East by Italian company Candy with EU backing.
ICI integration into Holland’s AkzoNobel with EU bank loan and within days of the merger, several factories in the UK, were closed, eliminating 3,500 jobs
Boots sold to Italians Stefano Pessina who have based their HQ in Switzerland to avoid tax to the tune of £80 million a year, using an EU loan for the purchase.
JDS Uniphase run by two Dutch men, bought up companies in the UK with £20 million in EU 'regeneration' grants, created a pollution nightmare and just closed it all down leaving 1,200 out of work and an environmental clean-up paid for by the UK tax-payer. They also raided the pension fund and drained it dry.
UK airports are owned by a Spanish company.
Scottish Power is owned by a Spanish company.
Most London buses are run by Spanish and German companies.
The Hinkley Point C nuclear power station to be built by French company EDF, part owned by the French government, using cheap Chinese steel that has catastrophically failed in other nuclear installations. Now EDF say the costs will be double or more and it will be very late even if it does come online.
Swindon was once our producer of rail locomotives and rolling stock. Not any more, it's Bombardier in Derby and due to their losses in the aviation market, that could see the end of the British railways manufacturing altogether even though Bombardier had EU grants to keep Derby going which they diverted to their loss-making aviation side in Canada.
39% of British invention patents have been passed to foreign companies, many of them in the EU
The Mini cars that Cameron stood in front of as an example of British engineering, are built by BMW mostly in Holland and Austria. His campaign bus was made in Germany even though we have Plaxton, Optare, Bluebird, Dennis etc., in the UK. The bicycle for the Greens was made in the far east, not by Raleigh UK but then they are probably going to move to the Netherlands too as they have said recently.
Anyone who thinks the EU is good for British industry or any other business simply hasn't paid attention to what has been systematically asset-stripped from the UK. Name me one major technology company still running in the UK, I used to contract out to many, then the work just dried up as they were sold off to companies from France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, etc., and now we don't even teach electronic technology for technicians any more, due to EU regulations.
I haven't detailed our non-existent fishing industry the EU paid to destroy, nor the farmers being paid NOT to produce food they could sell for more than they get paid to do nothing, don't even go there.
I haven't mentioned what it costs us to be asset-stripped like this, nor have I mentioned immigration, nor the risk to our security if control of our armed forces is passed to Brussels or Germany.
Find something that's gone the other way, I've looked and I just can't. If you think the EU is a good idea,
1/ You haven't read the party manifesto of The European Peoples' Party.
2/ You haven't had to deal with EU petty bureaucracy tearing your business down.
3/ You don't think it matters.
OUT OF EUROPE we need to be out of it.
And some people still think being a member and paying 9 billion quid to maintain that membership is a good deal.

Nothing would surprise me about your lack of knowledge in any topic, but especially regarding geography and Eswatini.

You really know how to wind up people don't you. Please have enough brain cells connected to your fingers before you start telling people you are the only one with an analytical brain and what you say is THE LAW. The Guardian is the most piece of ---- rag in the UK begging for all left wing halfwits to give them money to pay their little soldiers from the student unions to write the crap they publish. Surprised at you even read it.

UDON MAP,
Isn't about time you combined the 3 or 4 threads about different Brit politics into one thread like you did for U.S. Politics

AGREE.

The US threads on the stock market, elections, Democrats and Republicans, the economy, Trump, Hillary emails, US trade -- all were thrown into one thread. Seems that should be the case for any other discussions regarding countries.

But there's a helluva lot more than 3 or 4 regarding the UK. Everything to do with the UK economy, Article 50, UK prime minister, the Boris threads, the Brexit threads ... probably about 7 or 8 all together.

As with most viral internet based emails/facebook posts, even the most basic fact checking will reveal they are generally bullshiit - a mixture of half-truths, misleading statements, or just plain wrong.

See above.
