BKK to UT flight question
A friend is flying from the UK into Suvarnabhumi at 4pm on the 25th of Jan.
Should he buy a ticket from BKK to UT when he arrives at Suvarnabhumi, or online before he departs the UK?

Re: BKK to UT flight question
I would personally do it before he leaves the UK. I have, previously, bought a ticket for the next day and stayed at a hotel near the airport, they usually provide free shuttle service to and from.fredwilliams wrote: ↑January 8, 2020, 2:13 amA friend is flying from the UK into Suvarnabhumi at 4pm on the 25th of Jan.

Re: BKK to UT flight question
Look online on Expedia or hotels.com, or a website similar, and book a hotel near BKK airport that provides free shuttle service. Coming in that late you won't be able to find a hotel at the airport.
Re: BKK to UT flight question
On our last trip I found it cheaper to buy Heathrow to Udon in one package as for some reason it worked out cheaper than Heathrow to Suvarnabhumi, then buying a ticket Suvarnabhumi to Udon by just short of £100. I’m guessing it’s too late for your friend to do this.
The time before I thought I’d just buy a ticket in Suvarnabhumi. We’d flown Thai Air so wanted Thai Smile to Udon as they honour the 30kgs luggage allowance but found the flight really busy for some reason (11:00am on a Wednesday morning
) They’d only sell me premium tickets which cost a small fortune..
I guess what I’m saying is I’d book on line in advance to be sure of a ticket on the airline of choice at the price your friend wants to pay

Just plug in a departure time from Suvarnabhumi at least 4 hours after scheduled arrival then follow the links

Latest flight that leaves out of BKK is 7:20 p.m.
Re: BKK to UT flight question
Yeah, just saw that. I’m sure I had a flight about 21:00 once.
Never mind, I’d just book the 19:20 & leg it hoping for the best

If your friend arrives at 4, there should be plenty of time to catch the last Thai Smile flight (7:20) from Suvarnaphumi. Book the flight in advance, otherwise you'll risk no seats or pay higher price for booking at the airport at last minute. If traveling with more than 20kg of luggage, pay for extra baggage (10kg-20kg) online, otherwise, pay more at airport.
If your friend is arriving at 4 (as in 4:59), I'd stay overnight in Bangkok and fly out in the morning.

Re: BKK to UT flight question
Thai Smile which flys out of Suv to Udon Thani, have significantly increased their ticket prices for this current holiday period from what they were back in last November.fredwilliams wrote: ↑January 8, 2020, 2:13 amA friend is flying from the UK into Suvarnabhumi at 4pm on the 25th of Jan.

10 days back I bought a TS Return ticket Bkk to Udon Thani to Bkk, on the TS web site, travelling at end of first week in Februarry 2020. Paid TB 5,600 for Economy Saver. No Promo was available.
Chinese New Year starts 25 Jan 2020.
Your friend won't find a "Bus" ticket at the Airport that day, or even in the week before he arrives

My mate paid about 1,500 baht for a ticket today, pipoz.
Re: BKK to UT flight question
Fred seems all your questions have been answered ,the 1500bht is abouit right oneway ,Thaismile ,just have to make sure baggage allowance is right , usually 20k but have been on when they reduced it to 15k , and when i've been overweight have never paid more than 500bht ,fredwilliams wrote: ↑January 9, 2020, 2:21 amMy mate paid about 1,500 baht for a ticket today, pipoz.
