Still no mention of Myanmar or Laos, it seems impossible when you consider the number of Chinese working in both.

Because those two Countries and Cambodia do not test for the virus, pretty soon they will admit to thousands of cases of viral pneumonia same as Thailand but miniscule numbers of COVID-19, same as? Yip you guessed it first time.

There are 2 reasons why Coronavirus has brought Italy to it’s knees. First it is a flu is devastating when people get really sick they need weeks of ICU – and, second, because of how fast and effectively it spreads. There is 2 week incubation period and many who have it never show symptoms.

When Prime Minister Conte announced last night that the entire country, 60 million people, would go on lock down, the line that struck me most was “there is no more time.” Because to be clear, this national lock down, is a hail mary. What he means is that if the numbers of contagion do not start to go down, the system, Italy, will collapse.

Why? Today the ICUs in Lombardy are at capacity – more than capacity. They have begun to put ICU units in the hallways. If the numbers do not go down, the growth rate of contagion tells us that there will be thousands of people who in a matter of a week? two weeks? who will need care. What will happen when there are 100, or a 1000 people who need the hospital and only a few ICU places left?

On Monday a doctor wrote in the paper that they have begun to have to decide who lives and who dies when the patients show up in the emergency room, like what is done in war. This will only get worse.

There are a finite number of drs, nurses, medical staff and they are getting the virus. They have also been working non-stop, non-stop for days and days. What happens when the drs, nurses and medical staff are simply not able to care for the patients, when they are not there?

And finally for those who say that this is just something that happens to old people, starting yesterday the hospitals are reporting that younger and younger patients – 40, 45, 18, are coming in for treatment.

You have a chance to make a difference and stop the spread in your country. Push for the entire office to work at home today, cancel birthday parties, and other gatherings, stay home as much as you can. If you have a fever, any fever, stay home. Push for school closures, now. Anything you can do to stop the spread, because it is spreading in your communities – there is a two week incubation period – and if you do these things now you can buy your medical system time.

And for those who say it is not possible to close the schools, and do all these other things, locking down Italy was beyond anyone’s imagination a week ago.

Soon you will not have a choice, so do what you can now.

You have a chance to make a difference and stop the spread in your country. Push for the entire office to work at home today, cancel birthday parties, and other gatherings, stay home as much as you can. If you have a fever, any fever, stay home. Push for school closures, now. Anything you can do to stop the spread, because it is spreading in your communities – there is a two week incubation period – and if you do these things now you can buy your medical system time.

And for those who say it is not possible to close the schools, and do all these other things, locking down Italy was beyond anyone’s imagination a week ago.

This is what I have been saying for the last 3 months yet Canada still has open borders, we will pay the price. The good news is our idiot P.M. that did not act on this at the beginning is self isolating because they think his wife has the virus and is being tested. Maybe that will wake him up.

I have stocked up on supplies, did so 2 months ago, do not go to malls or crowded places and don't mix with other people other than my wife. I don't shop until i really need to. First thing I do when i get home is wash my hands and change my clothes so I would say I am doing my part. Many countries have restricted travel and or closed their borders which is smart. I will say it again, the Canadian government has failed us. It is up to them to make these things happen, private individuals can not close borders or quarantine people. Harsh measures to be sure but the price we are about to pay will make people wish they were taken. Absolutely agree with the sentiment of your new post/thread. But for me there are a few misguided/
misunderstood bits of advice. Sure self quarantine to prevent the spread, but leave a symptom like viral pneumonia for a week and you probably will be meeting your maker. Antibiotics will not cure the virus but will help with the illness's that the virus causes. I for one will be banging down tablets at the first sign of the symptoms of the virus to try and combat the affects of the virus. Keep the information flow coming, it will help many people. Please understand my reasons for this post, non critical in the slightest.

After waiting 1 hour for ambulance told to sit outside where everyone arriving for emergency.



After 1 hour again a fan was put on for me then told AFTER ANOTHER 45 MINS don't have corona in issan no worry go to Bangkok if you want a test.

We don't have here.

Gave me some pills for bronchitis.

Although it's good forum practice to list citations, in these times of increased awareness of our fellow members sensitivities or different concerns, I think it is a good idea to post citations whenever we can.
