Re: Coronavirus Now in Thailand !!
Philipines has 140 cases and 12 deaths nearly 10%
So proves hot countries not immune
Parts of Manila are in lockdown

Assuming the deaths are accurately attributed and comprehensive.
The South Korea statistics are probably a good guide (mortality overall at 0.8875%) so the actual number of cases is likely to be about 1,400 with most untested

Re: Coronavirus Now in Thailand !!
Whilst I realize that the numbers being reported may not be 100% accurate and that some countries may be understating their case numbers for either political and economic reasons, as an observation - 19 to the top 20 Countries who are recording the most number of cases to date and the more rapid rate of increase/spread of the virus, are in the Northern Hemisphere, many in the upper latitude area. Also these countries are not Third World.
Unless the less fortunate countries in Africa, South America and Asia are not recording their case numbers accurately, it begs the question why the virus is not already running rampant through these Countries (i.e. such as in Cammeron, Senegal, South Africa Argentina, Mexico, Columbia, Chile, Mexico, Indonesia, Vietnam Philippines etc). I would have expected that the virus would have taken off or progressed more quickly in some of these countries, if nothing else due to the fact that the people interact and live close together?
Or is it that, very shortly the case numbers will take off in these southern hemisphere Countries as well

Could be the weather the virus doesn't like it hot and apparently dies over a certain temperature.

Ive never understood this ! I always thought viruses liked hot and moist . I mean the human body runs pretty hot , much like the ambient temperature today .BillaRickaDickay wrote: ↑March 16, 2020, 12:50 pmCould be the weather the virus doesn't like it hot and apparently dies over a certain temperature.

Yeah, I thought the same but I guess most colds and flu get caught in the winter months.saint wrote: ↑March 16, 2020, 1:18 pmIIve never understood this ! There's a report on Al Jazeera quoting Dr John Nicholls from Hong Kong University saying that there are 3 things the Coronavirus does not like and shortens it's life expectancy on the outside.
Sunlight, high temperature and humidity... so we shall see.

Winter time people are more likely to be inside in close contact with others
Re: Coronavirus Now in Thailand !!
Yes but there are other reports that stae that until a full year cycle has occurred there is nothing to prove or disprove any assumptions that Hot weather, sunlight or Humidity will change how it is transmitted or even if it has any effects.
What has been stated which is fact, is that in hotter countries if a person coughs or sneezes the droplets which carry the virus tend to fall to the ground quicker and dry up . So it is plausible that the hotter the country the social transmission seen in Europe and the Mainly northern hemisphere countries may lessen, but NOT proven

Amen to that.
Though at the very least the world will be better prepared (even the orange monster, though probably not in office then) than it was for the version 1

These Viruses, seem to have an ability to learn from their mistakes of not killing the Host and then come back a bit smarter the next timesometimewoodworker wrote: ↑March 16, 2020, 5:54 pmAmen to that.

Interesting to see what happens when i return to my Buriram home later this week .. should be ok as not in the main city itself and im hoping theres no problem taking the small roads back door route overnight early morning hours.
I think its all main roads into the city , airport and Train/Bus Stations will have screening ... whilst rural areas supposed to report to the Village headman .. if i can catch him sober !!
