the masks are a complete waste of time as virus is smaller than the mask can stop and the virus also goes in the eyes

But they are obviously pretty good at stopping people seeing what is staring them in the face

They are to my mind the same kind of snowflake "only my view is correct" human detrius that occupy's desks at their UK sister title. The same ones who called for a day of National Celebration when Maggie Thatcher was laid to rest.
Are you suggesting that the Guardian (UK) called for such a celebration.

If so, I am calling bullshiit.

But you may wish to prove me wrong. :-k

While you are there, can you provide some support for your statement that (about the Guardian):
......... that kids on it is wholely funded by public subscription.
No Pratty, and you probably know that their UK sister title is the Independent, and in answer to your final sentence it was a reference to the USA Guardian who begging for subscriptions actually states they are funded by Public Subscriptions only. If you go onto the UK Independents subscriptions page you are asked to pay in US Dollars. Sounds really Independent?? A rag that allows its readers comments to be filled at the time of one of our greatest political figures of the 20th Centuary deaths with Burn in Hells and Lets have Celebration without one positive alternative comment is in tactic agreement with these comments. Any other bits of wisdom you can add will probably bring a smile to my face on a fairly dismal day.

Alex, the mask is supposed to be over your nose and mouth NOT YOUR EYES
The expert who has been trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes for God knows how long with spurious claims about Kingfishers and rental cancellations to name but a few speaks his words of wisdom again. (At least his version of wisdom)

Thanks for clarifying, Alex. We can now be assured (because you haven't offered any evidence to the contrary) that:

- the Guardian didn't "call for a day of National Celebration when Maggie Thatcher was laid to rest."

- the Guardian (either US or UK edition) hasn't claimed they are "wholely funded by public subscription".

As I called previously......... bullshiit.

Jeeh Pratty, you just never acknowledge that you are talking through the bit between your guts and the hip joints. I will not use time copying and pasting acknowledged facts that you seem, in your perverse way to want posted then you just do not acknowledge, ( 'defeat' , that is not my aim, just the stopping of absolute bull excreta on a fairly open forum) . I truly hope to everything that I believe in, that you and your friends do not succumb to the virus so that we as civilised, intelligent, educated people can continue our various discussions that prove we are above primeval mammals.

You will finally believe kingfisher in about 24 years when they have to make the docs public Alex

About the same time that they release the inquiry findings of the Russian intervention in the elections which are currently being kept from the public., and who the hell paid for BOJO's holiday (and why did he he have to lie?) :-k

Stay safe

What an idiotic, harebrained scheme. Only in the UK could a politician come up with something so crazy and have people go along with it. I suppose people deserve the leaders they get.
Exactly, good luck to the US.

An Australian point of view, from the national broadcaster.
As his countrymen and women die, Boris Johnson has been mugged by the coronavirus reality

There is more confusion in Australia than the UK
No one appears to understand what the Prime Minister is trying to do by not closing schools etc.

That is probably because Australia is a Commonwealth of states, and the state leaders (Premiers) have the responsibilities and powers over a number of areas, including schools.

But the PM ultimately controls most of the purse strings. He also has to pick up the bills for the unemployed.

Thanks for the explanation.
My son was at College in Melbourne until last Thursday.

They advised him to travel home to Thailand before a lock down occurred.
So I booked him on a Thai Airways flight last Thursday night.
The College keeps in touch with him by email.

Most of the Universities had closed down last week in Melbourne as the majority of Students were from overseas as my son is and advised Students to travel home.

They can not give a date for when the next term will start as they will not be allowed back due to travel restrictions.

He also wanted to get back to Thailand because when he finished College & got to the local Supermarket there was nothing left but Fruit.
All meat etc was non existent on the shelves.

and still BOJO refuses to shut down non essential building sites ........

The same BOJO (when mayor of London) who got preservation orders overturned that enabled several major building projects to go ahead regardless of public outcry

aint it good to have friends in high places

The British entertainer seems to be out of his depth. Hopefully there's someone considerably more capable ready to take over. Every nation needs good leadership in these challenging times.

Cummins. Where did the Tories get him from?

His sometimes very witty boss, the British entertainer, is whacked in The New York Times:
Boris Johnson Is Not Cut Out for This Crisis

Britain needs a leader, not a joker.

They seem to have flipped positions on herd immunity. Johnson got a bit anxious about it but it seems to be Trump's current kite. They've both taken a bit of a bollocking over all this.

Common knowledge GT that neither BOJO or Matt Hancock were in favour of "Herd Immunity" it was Dom come who insisted on that route only to do a 180 turn a week later which has made Bojo look even more of a fool
