Are you suggesting that the Guardian (UK) called for such a celebration.

No Pratty, and you probably know that their UK sister title is the Independent, and in answer to your final sentence it was a reference to the USA Guardian who begging for subscriptions actually states they are funded by Public Subscriptions only. If you go onto the UK Independents subscriptions page you are asked to pay in US Dollars. Sounds really Independent?? A rag that allows its readers comments to be filled at the time of one of our greatest political figures of the 20th Centuary deaths with Burn in Hells and Lets have Celebration without one positive alternative comment is in tactic agreement with these comments. Any other bits of wisdom you can add will probably bring a smile to my face on a fairly dismal day.

That is probably because Australia is a Commonwealth of states, and the state leaders (Premiers) have the responsibilities and powers over a number of areas, including schools.

But the PM ultimately controls most of the purse strings. He also has to pick up the bills for the unemployed.

My son was at College in Melbourne until last Thursday.

They advised him to travel home to Thailand before a lock down occurred.
So I booked him on a Thai Airways flight last Thursday night.
The College keeps in touch with him by email.

Most of the Universities had closed down last week in Melbourne as the majority of Students were from overseas as my son is and advised Students to travel home.

They can not give a date for when the next term will start as they will not be allowed back due to travel restrictions.

He also wanted to get back to Thailand because when he finished College & got to the local Supermarket there was nothing left but Fruit.
All meat etc was non existent on the shelves.
