Have a good look at previous posts. As happens, figures quoted are all over the place, to suit the posters predilections. They said the Asian flu was worse by saying there were 4 million deaths, and compared that to US deaths from COVID 19. I was just having a shot at them for selecting misleading figures.

I asked for US figures and was given worldwide figures, that is why I asked this question.

I'm a firm believer that this isn't just another flu, I have my reasons and I'll stand by them but I think we have to move beyond this argument now, it doesn't matter who's right and who's wrong. The world now is a different place to what it was 3 months ago and I doubt it will ever return to those days where we don't worry about masks and gel at least for a long while. Whichever way you think now is pretty much irrelevant it is now what it is, it's time to move on.

interesting what 5 weeks has shown. Just the flu, seems to be fading into the background, the abcnews article is no longer up, and while it spoke of 7000 deaths at the remarkably low rate of 0.1%, the US death tally is a smidge below 100,000 with an official death rate of close to 0.7%, and almost certainly well above that.

Does anybody now still argue that it is just the flu?
