Have you enquired at cake shops/bakerys (especially in the supermarket bakerys) as they might give you a few pointers ??
I suspect it is not readily available - like cake mixtures and stuff as there is very litle home baking done here - after all , how many Thai (or foreigner too for that matter) people have an oven in their kitchen ?
Will keep my eyes open for icing when I am out and about for you![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
BTW - isnt it possible to actually make cake icing ? (sugar, sugar and more sugar !!)

Thats Ok Dakota I like Miss Cakes too. One of the fun things that we do since we now have a oven is cakes, pies, cookies, enchillada, roasts and that sort of thing. It was very easy to find until just recently, you can still find the Betty Crocker cake mixes but not the icing. All of sudden out of stock everywhere. I guess we might just have to stop being lazy and make our own. Usually not a bad deal, fumble through once and then my wife takes over and does better them me anyway,Dakoda wrote:Miss Cake has all kinds of cakes with icing. I can't resist her Chocolate cashew cookies.
location is downtown Udon, been a bunch of times, but thats the best I can do for directions, sorry!
and whoever is buying up all her whole wheat bread, please stop
Now banpaeng, just how long do you think it took me to decide I didn't need icing on my cake that badly. It's rough but oat meal cookies will dobanpaeng wrote:It's on every store shelf here.![]()

But now if a dozen packages of good Texas corn tortillas were to fall in your bag on your trip here, I bet could find time to help you take those nasty things out of your bags

Ray, you know most folks would really laugh at that request but I have actually done that for my brother in law in Missouri. Until the Hispanic population got more in Missouri whan I went up had to take Tortillas.
As I can't really remember 5 min from now, if you will help me remember
till Feb I will honor that request. Just hope the good ole boys at Thai customs don't ask what they are but have never been searched in Thailand yet.

Three places in the world to get good tortillas Mexico, California and Texas. The others just don't come close.
Hmmm!!!! I wonder if model fribies would work for immigrations

Cake Icing Receipe
For Cake Icing
POWDERED sugar (the white stuff)
butter or margerine (warm)
Flavor i.e. melted chocolate I guess powdered will do but not as good as melted. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler, this is a pan of water under a pan with the chocolate in it. If you want flavors other than chocolate like buttered rum etc. then buy liquid flavors that you can pour in.
mix well and spread on the cake while the icing is warm and the cake has cooled or you will tear up the cake. After covering the cake use the tip of a butterknife to touch the icing and then lift the tip of the knife which will make a little raised spot that sort of looks like the formations that hang down inside a cave. Do this all over the cake and your TG/TW will lubb you forever.

Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck
Re: Cake Icing Receipe
I cheated went by a bakery today bought a kilo of thier butter icing , added some of the chocalate powder from the store and bakers sugar, not bad at all.
Today was experiment time tomorrow we do a cake, I think it is going to be OK.

Ok did the cake today white cake chocolate icing with chopped walnuts sprinkled over the top. Looks good find out after dinner tonight.
As luck would have it just finished the cake when we get a call telling us we have a Case of Betty Crocker Icing being sent to us from Bangkok on the bus tonight. so I'm glad we figured out a different way, doesn't sound like will need it anytime soon again.
Anyone needs some chocolate icing

Re: Cake Icing Receipe
Darn spoke to soon, the only thing they didn't have was the icing, n must not be available in country.
What happened is a friend went to Bankok Villa Market ordered 18 ceases of things he needed, he lives way out of town. They are shipping it by Bus and I'm supposed to pick up.
If this works and I think it will then a buying Co-Op would work as well. Something to think about in the future.
