One Covid 19 death in the UK is one too many. My principal point is that the UK government is incompetent and run by a dimwit. We've had the drums beating on here for ages about how great Johnson is and the evidence seems to me that he's hopeless. He couldn't even be arsed turning up to 5 Cobra meetings when it was already known China had locked down 60 million or so people.
If he had attended then I hope on 3 March 2020 this wouldn't have been reported:
U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has boasted that he has shaken hands with coronavirus patients while speaking about his government's plan on tackling the outbreak.
Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday about the plan to slow the spread of the COVID-19 disease in the country, Johnson told reporters that he will continue to shake hands with people despite the outbreak of the coronavirus around the world.
Johnson said the public must "make up their own minds" about the greeting, adding that washing hands is "the crucial thing."
"I was at a hospital the other night where I think there were a few coronavirus patients and I shook hands with everybody, you will be pleased to know, and I continue to shake hands," he said. "People obviously can make up their own minds but I think the scientific evidence is… our judgement is that washing your hands is the crucial thing."

Not sure if UK has lost it's mind, but it's blatantly obvious that quite a few expats have if these threads are anything to go by. Noticeable that as more & more ma/pa shops ran out of beer supplies the angrier the posts were becoming on quite a few threads
Hopefully everyone can now get back to just gentle wind ups and banter

The majority of Brits on here and many back home think they have done pretty well .
Now i know thats going to upset you as you seem to be patiently waiting for the death toll to go through the roof .
But at the end of the day your just a sick person that appears to gets his jollies counting innocent people die and winding everyone up .
There we go back on track .

No, I hope there isn't another single death from Covid 19 in the UK (or anywhere else). You aren't summarizing my position accurately.

Quite amazing, isn't it.
I guess the poor old mods must have had a Chambers Meeting a while back, decided WTF ....... just let them go for it until the CV-19 blows over.
BTW - my ma & pa shop supplier has been as reliable as a Swiss watch.

Patrick Vallance must regret this statement about what was a good outcome:
In the middle of March, the government’s chief scientific adviser, Patrick Vallance, declared that keeping coronavirus deaths below 20,000 would be a “good outcome”. As of today the official number of coronavirus deaths in hospitals and in the community stands at more than 26,000, making the UK the third-worst-hit country in the world, behind Italy and the US.

It seems an ill-considered statement given Covid 19 wasn't going away and will be a big problem for years until there's a vaccine.

The U k government also stated a few weeks ago they would be testing 100,000 a day by the end of April .
The bastards failed , they didnt manage it until the 1st of May .
Lying scumbags should all be thrown in the tower , of London that is , not Blackpool .
Sticky enough ?

Testing and tracing and isolating contacts seems critical to managing Covid 19. It seems more populous countries can save tens of thousands of lives if they get this right. I agree the British government's performance hasn't been good here but things look to be on the mend. NZ delayed relaxing its strict lock down by about 5 days because its tracing resources weren't sufficiently scaled for less social distancing.

GT, the UK has done a splendid job. They delayed shutdown just long enough to kill off many of the most vulnerable and costly members of society. As a conservative estimate, that should save us at least half a billion annually. Whilst NZ continues providing pensions, healthcare and benefits to the overweight, the sick and the elderly for years ahead, we will be in clover.
Wheres the problem?

Yes, I had seen that upside too. Someone in the British Treasury is probably already calculating the size of any possible tax cut.
