Re: English Premier League 2020/21
Hopefully they'll end up down the table behind Everton. I'm hoping for 55 or more goals from the very popular Toffees in this coming season.

Good lord no. I'm rather keen for the Toffees to find the back of their opponent's net a lot more next season. I think it would be great to see 747man with even more bounce in his step.

That's easy to achieve tell him to convert to being a pool Chelski or United supporter, much easier simple life that will add years to his health
Re: English Premier League 2020/21
I fear you're right dunroaming but 747man is 747man. He'll be with the Toffees until his last breath. As for me,if someone was silly enough to offer me 100,000 baht to support another team, I'd think about it. But I wouldn't support Liverpool for 100,000 baht. Leeds or say Newcastle, may be.
I understand the players happily jump ship for money too. What cads.

He takes soccer too seriously. He should try learning Mandarin.

The Toffees score more goals they'd be lucky to score in Soi Sampan .

Gentlemen, we'll be making some changes to this thread this year. It's going to be the "English Premier League 2020/21" thread, not the let's slag each other off, or each other's team. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Is that Chelsea Blue, Millwall Blue, Coventry City or Manchester City Blue? In any case Tranmere Rovers, your back-up team, has a mostly white uniform with blue trim.

These changes are going to be a challenge. The thread might be quite different this year although I expect by popular demand it will still pivot around Everton and its near neighbours. I have my fingers crossed that Everton wins its first match with a couple of good goals and starts the season strongly.

Re: English Premier League 2020/21
Everton forward Richarlison has spoke of his desire to join a big club.
Richarlison says he is happy to "hold on for another season" at Everton, but will address his future with manager Carlo Ancelotti if the club receives "a good offer"

A bit of fun is great, -- why even I have been known to have fun! But when the thread becomes so top heavy with three or four people having fun and others feel discouraged from making serious posts about the season, then it's no longer fun. That's what I'm going to try to avoid this year.dunroaming wrote: ↑August 4, 2020, 8:38 amSeems there will be 2 English premiere league threads next year the real one and the alternative one where we can still have a bit of fun and a poke at each other
Re: English Premier League 2020/21
I have removed several posts. As I said, a "bit of fun" is fine. However, when a "bit of fun" becomes a euphemism for insulting others or their teams, then it's no longer fun. I'm from Boston, where our baseball team, the Red Sox, has a long standing rivalry with the NY Yankees. It's mostly good fun; however, when it becomes more than that, it's no longer fun. In the Red Sox/Yankees case, people have been hurt, some seriously, in the name of having a "bit of fun."
When I start getting complaints about posts that I didn't recognize as insulting because I'm American and didn't know all the words, then it's no longer fun.
This thread will be for substantive comments and discussion about the actual season, teams, matches, etc. I'll be a bit more lenient in the other one, but there will be limits there, too. It will not be the free-for-all that last year's thread was.
Let's keep it fun, please!!

Re: English Premier League 2020/21
Why was my post removed when all I said was that the two threads would need monitoring by someone so that the "fun" didn't get mixed in with the "serious stuff "
I can't see anything offensive about that. It's true that's what the football forum would need.

Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

There was nothing offensive about it. However, it wasn't about the League or the game. That's what THIS thread is for.

Re: English Premier League 2020/21
Looking forward to seeing Leeds back in the big time. They have a big following with Aussies given the legacy of Tony Dorigo, Harry Kewell and my mate Vidukes. Bielsa seems to like to play an exciting brand of footy so here's hoping they can stick around for a bit.

I would........ except there will be little to talk about - a bit like Everton.

Perhaps one of our Liverpool supporters might bring us back on topic by posting on the EPL.
