The last time I saw such a feeble attempt at excusing ones actions my daughter was sat in a pile of crumbs, with crumbs on her face, next to the open, empty cookie tin. I asked her if she’d been eating cookies & she said no firmly believing if she denied what was blatantly obvious to everyone else, then it hadn’t happened.
