The Big-C at the SKN ring road intersection has them. If you walk in and stay to the left side, walking past the fresh fruit and veges section, it is one or two isles down if I recall. I think they were located with the baking supplies. Apparently not many people eat raw nuts and seeds... heaven forbid. Look for the Heritage Nuts & Seeds rack that look like the below...

http://heritagethailand.com/category.php?id=Heritage

The Heritage website seems to be from 2007, so flax seeds aren't on that website.

The flax seeds are actually in a blue package rather than green but the package is the same. Makro and Villa also have them.
Well that is interesting as I was in there yesterday talking to the Manager and he (along with his team) said they do not have them - they did look !
He did phone me later to say that he had spoken to HO in BKK and had checked the fact they are 'good sellers' so after the reorganisation will ask the supplier to restock if possible
As I went on to say, Makro has them and they work out cheaper

Dont know about Prostatitus, I have BPH (Enlarged Prostate) Had for about 2 years now
I take 5 mg Finasteride and 4 mg Doxasillin everyday.
I'm up 4-5 times a night. Pain in the butt !
Dont know whether the medicine works so good. Cant stop dosage.
This stuff dont work straight away. Takes a month or more to see results.
I cant afford an operation here I think expensive
Just hope dont get worse!
Its now two years on. The BPH worse than before.
Visited Military hospital intending to have Laser surgery.
But apparently they dont have the laser procedure there.
Also says their surgery for BPH is dated and "old" :-k
So I got palmed off with alternative medication.
Which as yet, not helped at all!
I fear medication has come to a non function issue now.
Just concerned about Prostate cancer. As similar symptoms as BPH.
I am wondering if the general hospital has the laser treatment
Private hospital has for sure but at $2000+ out of my reach!

Choi Choi, I am now dealing with the same thing, only I just learned that I have a problem. It was detected with a full abdominal ultrasound at the Army Hospital, only 800 Baht and well worth it to check out all your vital organs in that area. They can measure the size of your prostate and tell you just how it compares to normal size. A PSA test there is only 300 Baht and will test for cancer, then that should be followed up with a digital exam, a finger up the ol' Hershey trail, to feel for abnormalities. The prostate generally has an elastic feel, but if it's hard that could be a good sign of tumor, cancer or both.

Knowledge for you right now is power, so I highly recommend to take time out of your life to watch this invaluable video on the subject presented by a credible doctor from the UCLA Medical Center. You'll hear about all the meds you could possibly use, plus he will describe all the different options for surgery. It answered every question I have ever had on the matter. Wishing you all the best!

OK .Yes very informative.
Seems Laser procedure not so wonderful after all.
I should have asked for the "Turps" option.
Maybe would have been better!
Thanks for the info! ;)

Just to clarify, a high PSA test DOES NOT indicate cancer. It just measures the amount of the antigen, which also can increase due to the natural prostrate growth as we get older. My PSA increased over two years and then decreased after using Proscar for 6 months and had maintained low acceptable levels for years. The best way to tell if cancerous is to have a piece of prostate nipped off and checked under microscope.

Just been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate. I was prescribed finasteride 5mg and alfuzosin 10mg. The hospital charged me 1300 baht for a one month supply which seems quite expensive. Anyone buy these meds at a pharmacy, and if so, what is the price range. Thanks.

I don't have anything good to contribute but will say the prostate cancer will kill you. I had a friend in Bangkok who was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The doctor told him that he needed to have his prostate removed. My friend told me that he still had all his parts and they all still worked. The doctor told him that he would be dead in six months without the surgery. The doctor was correct. He died six months later. I also had two friends who went with the TURP option. One got good results and was back to normal like he was a young man again. The other ended up wearing adult diapers because he lost control of his bladder.

My favorite recreation now is playing pool and drinking beer every Friday night. I pay for that entertainment by getting up about six times a night to go dribble in the bathroom. I had to give up drinking beer for the most part. I don't like the odds of any type of surgery and the drugs have undesirable side affects, so I take saw palmetto and flax seed powder. Contrary to some "experts", who say that is just a waste of time and effort, I have to disagree. It certainly doesn't cure anything but it does seem to help me. Blood tests show nothing abnormal so I have resigned myself to just live with it. I limit my liquid intake after six PM and that helps the most. The bottom line is that getting old sucks. Saw palmetto and flax seed powder are available from Lazada.

If I may ask, what were the symptoms that led to this diagnosis or was this discovered during a regular health check up?

I had a bad bout of Prostsatitus, was on antibiotics for 10 days, during that time I went and got a PSA test at the Udon Clinic which came back at 9.8. I showed this to the specialist at the hospital during my follow up from Prostatitus, was given a rectal exam right away, and diagnosed with enlarged prostate.

Have absolutely no medical background so cant give advise, just tell you my situation. I was diagnosed with an enlarged prostrate over 10 years ago now, was checked for malignancy, quite clear so was given just medication which I have taken every day since,finasteride5mg, 1per day and doxazosin 2mg, 2 per day together, both a couple of hours before going to bed, apparently one shrinks the gland and the other enlarges the pipes to improve urine flow. Neither are a cure but help manage the condition, all this time I find a need to pee every 3 1/2 to 4 hours during the night which is manageable. I go to see the specialist DR at the military hospital every 6 months who checks for any signs of change, which up to now there hasn't been, he gives me a prescription for the pharmacy there to cover another 6 months, total cost 1,200bht which included his fee. Occasionally he gets me to have a blood test which costs an extra 300bht .
Quite manageable and not expensive, the only disadvantage he warned me the medication would limit my ability to achieve an erection , but at getting on for 90 years old that's to be expected anyway .
Age is a matter of mind.
If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.

Written before on this subject but a reminder to all us more mature guys. Had the most severe of infections (99.5% inability to pee)and in severe pain for a number of days. Went to the nearest hospital emergency room in Pattaya and after about 3 hours they suggested fitting a catheter. Instantly filled about 6 bags with backed up urine, kept in for 3 nights on the obligatory anti-biotic drip and urine discharge monitored. Attended a urologist after recovering slightly had the usual finger exam and PSA. Finger showed very enlarged prostate but doc said smooth and no feel of cancer, PSA results indicated the same Was on meds for 3/4 months and everything back to almost normal apart from no discharge on orgasm. That was at the time when the Army Coup happened so about 6 years ago. Not on permanent meds, and normally get at least 4 hours sleep before the wife's feathered alarm clocks wake me and I go pee. I am despite what Tamada says, not too old at 66 but was a frightening experience. Get a PSA check every year after 60 if you can.
