UNBELIVEABLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who would have thought that the best meal I have ever had in Thailand ( been in Pattaya almost 18 months) would be in Udon thani , well it was and the place is called NONGS RIBS. Everything was excellent!!!!! Marinated Sirloin Steak 250 B (500-750 B in Pattaya), I swear I almost dropped my Heineken when the waitress asked how I would like it cooked. Med-rare is how I ordered and med-rare was how it was served!!! Baked potato, sour cream, butter and guys, did you know Eddy has a pepper mill??? He does. My friend had the ribs 150 B (400 B Pattaya), of course I tasted, as good as I have ever had and I am from NC. Wife had spaghetti shrimp goong 45 B ( at least 100 B Pattaya). Everything was [lated very nicely and Eddy and Nong were extremely pleasant even though \|Eddy is a damn yankee, I liked him right off the bat. Having read many reviews on the forum, I cannot for the life of me figure out why more reviews are not posted. This is a Class Restaurant with more than fair prcing. I am only sorry that I leave for BKK on Friday, but will return at least twice before I go. I wonder if I can convince Eddy & Nong to move to Pattaya?????

JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND !?!?!!?!?! how can I go to this restaurant at 8:00pm and only find it alittle over half filled, not in Pattaya baby. But anyway, went back tonight, tried the Steak again, just as good as last night. Tried to have some fun with Eddy, asked for steak sauce, he replied" Which type" Yankee smart ass for sure. Well, try he had A-1, Heinz and H-P, me, I am an A-1 guy. My friend Jim had the BBQ Chicken 80 B ( couldn't find like this in Pattaya), which he was nice enough to share a rather small piece with me, ABSOLUTELY PERFECT, as good as I ever had. wife had Curried Crab 140 B min. in Pattaya 250B if you can find this good. Jims wife had Thai dish? 40 B, she said very good and then had the Tom Yum goong, which we all shared, Eddy, never loose your cook, EXCELLENT!!!!!Well the damage tonight with 4 large Heinekens, 880 B . Guys, really don't be surprised to go there one day and find a sign"MOVED TO PATTAYA" Eddy I think will go, Nong on the other hand, well not as easy as Eddy. GUYS, YOU HAVE THE BEST HERE AND BETTER APPRECIATE IT BEFORE I STEAL THEM

You're preaching to the choir, stickyfingers. Nong's Ribs has become a favorite spot to eat for a lot of us here in Udon area. Stopped in last Friday night and the place was jumping. All of the tables were taken but saw that some of the stools with a view of the street were open. Eddie and Nong are great hosts, moving from table to table, taking orders and keeping the glasses filled. You're right! They do have an excellent cook. Tried the BBQ chicken and it was good! Wife ordered and enjoyed the marinated steak. Friends with us ordered Fish & Chips and Laardna (Issan food) between them and thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Stick around, Eddie and Nong! :D

Just to say thanks to all !!!!!

Well, now I must get ready to leave Udon, but now I have a reason ( other than new Thai wifes family) to come back here. Nong & Eddy are the best host & hostess I have met here in Thailand and their food, well to all that have been there, you know what I mean when I say, ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT !!!!! to all those who have not been there yet, well get off your retired asses and get there  .
Nong & Eddy, I truly wish you all the Best Success and hope you will consider my offer :D

I have been to Eddie's place today and was persuaded to try the Marinated Steak currently on the blackboard special.
In the past Eddie has asked for my views and I have given it - straight, good or not so good.
When he asked me tonight what I thought of the Steak, I told him I would be honest as he would learn from it.
Without a doubt it was the "Best Steak ever"
I am not a steak connieseur by any means but that steak tonight was absolutely flaming fantastic.
Huge, thick, juicy, cooked exactly as I requested and boy was it tasty !

You will NOT get a better steak anywhere near here at twice the price.
I remember my last good steak - which was years ago but tonight I will remember this one it was just perfect.

He is not paying me or bribing me to say this and those who know me, know I say things as I see them, but if you don't try these steaks before the special ends - you will regret it.

Thanks Eddie for persuading me to order it in the first place :)

Buddy eck, but this place sounds like 1 to visit when I return in August, along with Seafood 3, and a place a mate recommended (more for the atmosphere) called Mono, - I just love trying new places, but just 1 question - does Nongs ribs cater for vegitarians ? Not me, I LOVE a steak, but the TGF is a veggie and on the last visit a few places didn't cater for them. Anybody know if they do this ?

best to all

hey guys, Good News/Bad News, up to you to decide. Today, out of Sirloin Steaks (don't blame me, its my butchers fault  ) but have Marinaded Rib-Eye, very large steaks, but as with all Rib-Eyes, some fat, not like our Sirloins. So, you decide if it's Good News or Bad News   !!!!!

hey guys, Sirloin Steaks are back on the menu !!!!! Talked with butcher, and was assured that will always have fresh meat for me ( hope he means steak  )
Tony and all yesterday who had the Rib-Eye, sorry it was SOOOO BIG, told you up front :D . Glad you all enjoyed !!!!! Serious question boyz, Sunday I plan on cooking and you all will decide what gets cooked. Chicken Cacciatore or Chicken Soup served with either Rice or Egg Noodles. To those who had my chicken cacciatore, I must be honest, my chicken soup is better, well in my humble opinion anyway. vote and I will cook the winning choice!!!!!!
