Passport photographs
Passport photographs
Recommendations please for a photographer that can do some new passport pics for myself and my gang.
Years ago, we used a shop on Phosi that insisted on photoshopping me into a (more) hansum man and Mrs tam into her teenage sister. Don't need that. Just a place that preferably delivers while u wait or same day.

Smile Photo opposite Central before the bus station
You can even take the pictures yourself then Line them in the shop saying you wanted them printed passport size if you don't fancy getting the little ones to sit still in a public place. (You can email too but I've never managed to get this to work as the file size for pictures is quite big)
Don't know how much passport ones are but I just had some 10cm x 15cm pictures printed & they were 5 baht each ready in the hour

^ Nice one Niggly, cheers.
Re: Passport photographs
I guess one of the drawbacks if you go accompanied is it usually costs me a fortune in Central while we wait the hour

Re: Passport photographs
I usually use the Photographer next to Tesco Lotus express opposite Ban Huay market.
Never had to wait more than an hour (will photoshop if required) .......... his daughter said that photoshop don't have a tool that could possibly make me look more hansum.
You can easily waste an hour wandering round the market and shops

Re: Passport photographs
For Thai (Imm etc) use I just hung a light blue bed sheet up at home, set the camera to take an exposure every 5 secs or so, sat in front of the sheet and "posed". Went through the various pics, loaded the best onto a thumb drive, took it into a photo shop and had 50 or so of various sizes printed.
Different story for official UK Passport purposes but even here in the sleepy town of Ban Dung we have a specialist, must be many in Udon.
Sent from my 1977 Apple II using 2 Heinz bake bean cans and piano wire!
Re: Passport photographs
Just a word of caution if printing a few pictures for use at various times at immigration. I read only last week a chap was sent away from his extension application because the officer noticed it was the same picture as last year

Re: Passport photographs
Using the criteria of "if I can park nearby and walk", the first choice of Smile Photo was a near miss as a badly parked Scoopy (aren't they all?) ate up the nearest spot. So dropped by our favorite down-town liquor store on Phosi (unusually with oodles of parking) to get some lime cordial on the way to Photo Life where there was also oodles of parking. Twenty minutes, 10 photos (2 different backgrounds) 160 baht.
Sorted.

Re: Passport photographs
^Did you use any photo shopping again to make the passport look less like a police mugshot?

Re: Passport photographs
Which of your "aliases" did you use?
Re: Passport photographs
They took their time and I thought they were trying to tart me up again but upon receipt, I look like the "Sean Connery's younger, handsomer brother" that I truly am and not some bouffanted, Botoxed and flushed-cheeked noob like the Phosi shop did about a dozen years back.
Re: Passport photographs
Strange your take was such, they just posted this in their Facebook page complaining about the amount of work it took to get it acceptable to the passport office for a measly 160 baht.tamada wrote: ↑April 1, 2021, 6:40 pm

I thought headwear had to be removed. Are sweaty headbands exempt?
