Woke up early but lay abed pondering why toothache hadn't kept me awake. Then the hounds were having a ruckus outside so went out to kick them off the patio and noted there had been a sprinkling of light rain overnight.

Looking forward to the AQI update (73 - Moderate).

^ I did a squizz at the app around 3 a.m. so it hasn't changed in the interim.

However, just fired up the app on the phone and tapped the gorilla glass as you would a barometer and blow me if it hasn't improved to 63 (still Moderate).

While I was trawling for bait earlier, I did find a dedicated but neglected AQI thread on this forum. Buggerd if I can find it now.

Rain alert this week from Tues/Wednesday for maybe 4+ days rain, which will mean the flying Ants etc at twilight, attracted top lights outside and INSIDE

Sounds so much better than termites.

Mang mao are eusocial insects, termites with reproductive queens, soldiers and workers in their three caste colonies. The caste which is a real ‘pest’ are from the reproductive group (the workers and soldiers are wingless), and they take flight in a huge swarm after heavy rainfall to mate and pair off in search of soft ground to burrow into and start a new colony. The termites need the soil’s moisture to survive but the lure of bright lights often leads to the eradication of a large part of the swarm. If they don’t make it to moist soil or dampened wood they die within a very short time.

......... crossing the border still that nasty persistent rain that you can’t get the intermittent wipers at the right speed for until about Do Home where it stopped completely.
Dry right through the centre unti I stopped at my favourite pork leg over rice stall for supper & noticed big puddles at the side of the road so it had obviously been raining.
Mrs N was quite happy about this as she intended watering the garden & now it wasn’t necessary, or so we thought......
Carried on home & it was bone dry, no evidence of rain whatsoever.

Mrs N is now outside flailing the hosepipe to tend to her crops.


Oh, & it’s dark too. Hopefully this little nugget will save ScoobyDooby from having to concoct a story about getting a family member to look outside & check.

Alan seems to have disappeared .. real nice guy (omitting the fact hes an Everton fan) hope hes ok .

Not a drop of the forecast heavy rain near the airport .. another chance tomorrow perhaps.. that will make the road slippery and bring the bomb crater holes where the new drainage is being run into play.

But not a drop how embarrassing! They must be bunch of ******* at the weather Bureau!

Re Termites(Or whatever they are) Big mound in the garden. Hard as rock!
Had to use hammer and chisel to break it up! HTF do these little shits make the ground so hard!

Our ducks and chickens go ballistic when a swarm hits. Almost a fight to the death to get the most.
