Professor Malcolm's book also illustrates the difference between isolated, cherry-picked facts and relevant empirical evidence.

Many gun control advocates have cited the much higher murder rates in the United States than in England as due to tighter gun control laws in England. But Professor Malcolm's study points out that the murder rate in New York has been some multiple of the murder rate in London for two centuries -- and, during most of that time, neither city had serious restrictions on gun ownership.

As late as 1954, "there were no controls on shotguns" in England, Professor Malcolm reported, but only 12 cases of armed robbery in London. Of these only 4 had real guns. But in the remainder of the 20th century, gun control laws became ever more severe -- and armed robberies in London soared to 1,400 by 1974.

I object to the view that I should be judged by the color of my skin. I cannot tolerate a school that not only judges my daughter by the color of her skin, but encourages and instructs her to prejudge others by theirs. By viewing every element of education, every aspect of history, and every facet of society through the lens of skin color and race, we are desecrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther individual Jr., and utterly violating the movement for which such civil rights leaders believed, fought, and died.

I object to the charge of systemic racism in this country, and at our school. Systemic racism, properly understood, is segregated schools and separate lunch counters. It is the interning of Japanese and the exterminating of Jews. Systemic racism is unequivocally not a small number of isolated incidences over a period of decades. Ask any girl, of any race, if they have ever experienced insults from friends, have ever felt slighted by teachers or have ever suffered the occasional injustice from a school at which they have spent up to 13 years of their life, and you are bound to hear grievances, some petty, some not. We have not had systemic racism against Blacks in this country since the civil rights reforms of the 1960s, a period of more than 50 years. To state otherwise is a flat-out misrepresentation of our country's history and adds no understanding to any of today's societal issues. If anything, longstanding and widespread policies such as affirmative action, point in precisely the opposite direction.

This is ONE ex black cops perspective. I might add an individual who is making a name for himself (and a lot of money) by appealing to conservatives, not that his views are not genuine, but there is an awful lot of diversity of opinion in the USA on this case.

My time in the USA, maybe 20 visits and 4 years as a resident, is there is a lot of entrenched racism by the police, to the extent that one detective I knew would boast about it. If a cop was willing to boast about 'cracking black skulls' it is an indication of how open that racism was.

The black guy was probably looking around trying to see some other guy with a gun to his head , wondering what was going on. Simple if someone says drop the gun and I don't have a gun then the police must be shouting at someone else. Seems the police are just cowards , being in construction is by far a more dangerous job. Being a garbage collector ,deliveryman, farmers, gardeners are all dangerous compared to being a policeman.

It's been several years since Officer Michael Brelo walked free in Cleveland. After he and about 10 other cops had fired over 120 bullets, he still considered he was in "imminent harm" so reloaded, climbed on the hood of the bullet-riddled car and emptied his 15-round clip through the windshield and into the still twitching bodies of a couple of Blacks of no fixed abode.
