Circa 5-45 am Udons premier intersection update

The concrete guys dodged a bullet with the rain yesterday and already on site this morning at 6am .. im guessing the team must be on a bonus to get the road laid as they are really grafting so MAYBE a July completion is possible... here on the West side no need for a concrete laying machine that does an inferior job when compared to hand laid . Im just keeping them happy with a ready supply of tea and biscuits hobnobs seem to be their favs .... a case of beer every evening also hits the spot...

Very few traffic hold ups tho the area is still quite poorly lit at night.

Two lowly little sois closed off on the shortcut from HWY2 to behind Thai Watsadu. The only route through I could find was to go right over to the horse racing track & back along parallel to the ring road.
It was either this or go back the way I’d come to HWY2 & this chap is not for turning so it was out of the question, right kids

Eastern ring road southbound a tad gridlocked this morning as the contractor shuttled tanker trucks around while pumping out the flooded median between HomePro and the Shell station. Last night's rain wasn't too terribly heavy but I can see a 'wet spot' as this construction/disruption continues

I'd be interested in any photos you might take of tires impaled on the rebar that sticks out of the cemented lanes.

As for a July finish.......as I understand government construction contracts these days......if the contractor doesn't finish by the negotiated date, there's a daily penalty. Not sure how much, but probably enough to be sure it's finished on time. My money's on/by the agreed upon date.

The rebar sticking out the concrete is a real danger more so on the outward bound side as its down to one narrow lane ..only a matter of time before a vehicle gets snagged .. even more so now the traffic lane going West is now flooded due to a heavy 20 min shower.

Still a bit to frail to do a photo shoot at the mo ..

Circa 6;30 am .. REBAR 1 Car tyres 0

Car parked up outside Nong Hin school this morning with both drivers side tyres shredded ..obviously some one got shredded on the protruding rebar during darkness ... Lots of hunky roady guys bottom cracks already on site and the drain laying team has grown in numbers ...so theres even more of them doing nothing now  ..

Anytime soon expecting a new traffic road lay out as both inbound and outbound sides have completed 2 center lanes so things might start to get snarly .. as yet zero hold ups except for me and my dog walking route [-X

Yes DM seen those nasty rebars sticking out often, the lack of signage and lighting, obviously a factor, I wonder of the driver has any recourse to replace said tyres from the contractors lack of care. But I expect doubtful as this is Thailand and no-one gives a s*** when it comes to road works and illumination and signage, not even the RTP.

Flying visit to The Box Shop on Nittayo Road as soon as I’ve finished my cuppa.
Hopefully it won’t be too traumatic.

Straight through town & back to Boonthavorn & again very light traffic.
The plod were at the 2263 ring road crossroads but only seemed to be pulling motorcy with no helmets 🪖

Funnily enough, all the ones I could see lined up paying fines were wearing masks so remembering PPE is doable

Heads up for any transiting the AP/RR intersection ... witnessing the first day of real traffic tail backs today , in bound Tap / Duck noodle side down to one single lane ..out bound Nong Hin school side no problems .

Dm will do his inspector Clooso bit later to determine and confirm the cause ..

Observations from the eastern ring-road yesterday indicated that northbound, single-lane traffic from Nittayo to Nong Bua/Nong Sai lights is using part of the newly formed concrete road while ashpalt stripping commences on the existing near-side lane and hard shoulder. Access to the PPT, tire and rattan shops and the noodle shop on the corner looked severely impaired. The south-bound, single-lane is unchanged, running between the nearside lane and the hard shoulder. Drainage work and associated horizontal drilling continues between the hard shoulder and the klong.

The hole at the corner of the ring road and Sam Prao road looks like it has been abandoned. Now full of liquid mud and maybe slowly over flowing. A few barriers still around it, but will not be long before one night someone takes a short cut across it and sinks without trace ......

Any missing person reports?

Yes I noticed that , but considering Road Safety and signage of any Road works here is at best poor , not really surprised

Poor , Wow i didnt even think it was that good .
Had to attend a funeral in Na Klang yesturday . Nice dual carriageway between NLP and Na Klang , outside lane blocked off with very faded cones that you could not pick out till almost on them , and just before the cones , literally 30 meters before stuck in the central reservation a flag . Not red for danger , but yellow ! I ---- you not , fcking yellow .
Ive lost count of the number of yellow flags ive seen over the years , but not to warn drivers of a danger .More to promote a certain individual .
Stupid is what stupid does .
