Udon Thani Province entry requirements.

Post by Its Me Trev » June 29, 2021, 4:57 pm

I am hoping to travel to Udon on Friday from Phuket. The problem is that the flights I have booked mean I overnight in Bangkok as the Phuket flight is afternoon and the only Udon flight is early morning (Air Asia)

If that will be a problem, I can fly to Bangkok and ride a bike immediately out of the deep red zones and head up, overnight in Korat Province.

Anyone had any experience with the travel checkpoints?

You already have non-refundable tickets but for around 2000 baht, there's 4 daytime flights via DMG that will get you to Udon same-day with only 3 or 4 hours to kill on the layover.

Once you are in a deep red zone (in a Bangkok hotel), your arrival in UTH will be something of concern, whether you fly in or ride a bike.

If you can't change one ticket or the other to enable daytime travel, I would recommend buying new tickets so you can.

They might have PCR testing in the Udon airport baggage claim area.

They need your wisdom noosard.. Go down there and tell those officials that Covid is a sham, there are no mass deaths and order them to immediately lift all restriction pending further instructions from yourself as the Thai authority on all things Covid.
Best being part of this forum by placing the intellectual challenged on foes list. A lot less post to read and a great time saver.

There are exceptions.....These are the must quarantine:
If you're coming from the 22 high risk zones (it's 22 today, but tomorrow??)
If you've had one dose of the sinovac/sinopharm vaccine
If you've had the second dose of those vaccines within the past 4 weeks
If you don't have return fare
If you're enroute to another province......but don't have someone (from there) to meet you (here) (I presume)

No quarantine:
Coming from other than the 22 high risk zones
You've had both doses of the vaccine for at least 4 weeks
If you've had the second dose of Astrazeneca
If you've had the first dose of Astrazeneca for at least 4 weeks
You're enroute to another province and have someone with appropriate paperwork to meet you

Those are loose translations. If someone asked me for advice, I'd refer them to the authorities to be sure they got it exactly right.

There are separate rules for coming in by air......but I haven't seen the official post on what they are.

To add to my post yesterday.....the rules for travel into Udon are subject to change by the hour. As the city grapples with the problem, they're adding new rules.......say, for inbound train/plane passengers, etc. So travelers beware, even if it's to the neighboring province. Add to that problem, who knows what the neighboring provinces are doing??
The attached spider web shows some of the rules for traveling into Udon......too complicated/iffy for me to translate at this point. My advice: if you're planning on traveling outside the provincial bounderies and plan on returning, be sure you know the up-to-date rules.
