Indeed seems strange after being closed off and many vaccinated the province is still logging high volumes of new cases ..noosard wrote: ↑August 3, 2021, 11:57 amMakes you wonder what frontline covid personal are

Bizz colleague in Bkk is pescatarian and uses the SS seafood market regularly .. he was there a few days ago and commented that instead of opening at 5am its now 9am .. all the workers are screened prior to opening yet customers were not...also commented not seeing the same high number of road check points in and around the capital that were evident a week or so ago.

Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.
The point that the nurse contracted a covid19 related illness 1 week after the first vaccination has no relation to the vaccination. Unless the suggestion is that the nurse died from the vaccination.
Vaccines provide zero protection for at least 14 days from the 1st dose it ramps up from then.
As relevant would be to say that people who die in road accidents within a week of being vaccinated are covid19 related fatalities.
While you are giving a summary of the news there is important data missing, quite possibly from the original report or translation.

True STWW. A colleague of mine, working in KSA had his first AZ shot and then 5 -6 days after that, he was diagnosed with Covid-19. The Doctors told him the same, namely that, the AZ had not been in his system long enough to be effective.sometimewoodworker wrote: ↑August 3, 2021, 2:08 pmThe point that the nurse contracted a covid19 related illness 1 week after the first vaccination has no relation to the vaccination. He still went through the Covid-19 symptoms and felt like sh….t for about 3 days, with the lack of energy, fever, coughing and loss of taste. Eventually recovering.
How much the first jab of AZ shot actually helped him, if any, to fight the Virus off, nobody will know, but from his symptoms and being F…d for 3 days, it doesn’t sound like that first jab helped him at all, given the short time it was in his system.

That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.
Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.
Dont know if it's true or not but I'm aware of someone who is in ICU having contracted Covid on the same day as his vaccine. Popular gossip is that it's due to an overload.
I can confirm from personal experience that you can get Covid having been vaccinated. 2nd vaccine in May and Covid a couple of weeks back.

Samster
Just because someone receives a jab doesnt mean he is automatically protected It takes up to 14 days for the vaccine to kick in
"How long does it take for the COVID-19 vaccine to work?
Regardless of which vaccine you get, you won’t reach full protection until two weeks after your second or final dose. That’s about how long it takes your immune system to mount an antibody response to the vaccine."
AND
"Am I protected from COVID-19 after the first shot?
The first of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine does offer some protection, but not nearly as much as you’ll get from both doses.
For example, the Pfizer two-dose vaccine has 95% effectiveness at preventing symptomatic COVID-19 infection—but studies show that the first dose is only about 52% effective. This is why the second dose is so important, and why we’re so diligent about scheduling you for your follow-up shot."

I might add to pipiz post that his friend might have already been infected PRIOR to getting vaccine. Exposure to symptoms can be 2 to 14 days.pipoz4444 wrote: ↑August 3, 2021, 3:42 pmTrue STWW. Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.
https://www.rt.com/news/530759-sweden-d ... id-deaths/As the CDC urges Americans to mask up against the Delta variant, Sweden’s chief epidemiologist has argued that more data is needed about the strain’s infectiousness. His mask-free nation is hovering at zero Covid deaths per day.
Anders Tegnell said on Friday that there was “a lot we do not know” about Delta and cautioned against drawing “far-reaching conclusions” about the coronavirus strain. He noted that the variant had been circulating in Sweden “for quite some time” with little effect, particularly in high-risk settings such as nursing homes.
Masks off? Or masks on? A history of the CDC’s consistently inconsistent advice on face coverings
His comments were made in response to newly released data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggesting the Delta strain is more transmissible and could potentially cause more severe illness. The New York Times and other media outlets ran stories reporting that the CDC now believes the Delta variant is as contagious as chickenpox – but this comparison didn’t seem to impress Tegnell.
“It is difficult to say how contagious Delta is, [as] when it comes to chickenpox, we have been able to follow the disease for several years. The infectivity [of Delta] seems to be very uneven – in some cases, one person infects a hundred people, then we have other occasions when an infected person does not infect anyone at all,” he told Sweden’s Aftonbladet.
In separate remarks, he pointed to the fact that one-third of the country’s municipalities reported zero new Covid cases over the past week. At the same time, there was an uptick in cases among young people in Stockholm and other large cities.
And while US health authorities are pressing Americans in “high transmission” areas to mask up, Sweden dropped its last remaining mask recommendation – related to public transport – on July 1. While Sweden’s public health agency has supported measures such as social distancing and remote working, it has no recommendations for the use of face coverings in public spaces.
Reviled by the media for refusing to impose harsh lockdowns, Sweden’s less draconian approach to the health crisis appears to be paying off: The Scandinavian nation has recorded a total of eight Covid-linked deaths so far this month, an average of 0.25 deaths per day. While it’s possible this number will increase due to reporting lags, deaths have undoubtedly plummeted over the past several months. On June 4, Sweden reported 13 deaths – more than the entire month of July.
Everybody should listen to these happy, successful, wealthy, evolved, educated, better than everyone else in every way conceivable way Scandinavian countries -- right?

Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.
Good advice. It's why I have declined two jabs already. I'm not opposed to getting a vaccine, but I would be mighty irritated if I took the first junk available (Sinocrap) only to find out places I wanted to travel didn't accept it.
The whole vaccination dumpster fire is more complex than it appears. And if you get inferior shots -- it's not so easy to just take two more shots of the better stuff.
You're stuffed.

That is highly likely, as he had not idea who he interfaced with or when he may have caught it.

Im thinking there could be a miss understanding here guys .. (Noos n STWW).. both possibly non native English speakers reading the same sentence but their individual interpretation being different.. i can however as a native speaker see the confusion
Over to you khun kru KP ..
Back on topic .. it seems the main places being used to house n isolate returnees are the former army barracks on HW2 in Ban Chaiyaporn and the uni out at San Phrao ... according to one of the triple vacced (Sino x 2 AZ x 1 ) front line police involved in the movement of these returnees both places are about full and more locations are being sought by the local authourities.

Seriously! It seems many have overlooked the details of this. Unless she was staunchly anti-vaccination, she should have been fully vaccinated 6 months ago! Were any of her colleagues vaccinated? I would think her employer should be held fully responsible. Was it a government hospital? If so, even worse.noosard wrote: ↑August 3, 2021, 11:57 amMakes you wonder what frontline covid personal are

The media should be ashamed trying to link the death to a vaccine. Sensationalist click-bait headline. We all know it takes 2 weeks for a body to increase immunity after a vaccine. It would seem possible she may have had Covid when she was vaccinated?
Very sad.
And boys, the childish bickering is really annoying.
