Re: Corona Virus / COVID-19 Important Information
Some key findings from a recent Oxford University Study,
1 Two doses of either vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTec or AstraZenecastill),provided at least the same level of protection as having had COVID-19 before through natural infection; people who had been vaccinated after already being infected with COVID-19 had even more protection than vaccinated individuals who had not had COVID-19 before.
2 A single dose of the Moderna vaccine has similar or greater effectiveness against the Delta variant as single doses of the other vaccines.
3 Two doses of Pfizer-BioNTech have greater initial effectiveness against new COVID-19 infections, but this declines faster compared with two doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca.
4 Results suggest that after four to five months effectiveness of these two vaccines would be similar – however, researchers say long-term effects need to be studied.
5 The time between doses does not affect effectiveness in preventing new infections, but younger people have even more protection from vaccination than older people.
6 Whilst vaccinations reduce the chance of getting COVID-19, they do not eliminate it. More importantly, our data shows the potential for vaccinated individuals to still pass COVID-19 onto others, and the importance of testing and self-isolation to reduce transmission risk.

Re: Corona Virus / COVID-19 Important Information
more importantly what are the statistics of vaccinated people who contract the virus becoming hospitalized, seriously ill or dying? From what I've seen, vaccination improves your chances exponentially...

Re: Corona Virus / COVID-19 Important Information
For hospitalisation if you are unvaccinated and under 50 you are 9.8 times more likely to be admitted, for the over 50’s you are 12.2 times more likely to need hospital services.
The chances of death are rather greater than that.
It is not an exponential change as the reduction in risk is more linear. But of course it’s a huge increase in safety.

Vaccine Passport
The Department of Disease Control has issued a vaccine passport called the "COVID-19 CERTIFICATE OF VACCINATION," as published in the Royal Gazette.
In this video clip, there are details of the immunization certificate for international travel.

Receiving the COVID-19 vaccine overseas
If you’ve had either the Comirnaty (Pfizer) or Vaxzevria (AZ) vaccine in another country, you can have them added to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR). Your documents need to be in English and show what vaccination you’ve had. You’ll need to take these documents to a recognised vaccination provider in Australia to have them added to your immunisation history statement.
At this time, COVID-19 vaccinations received overseas that are not approved in Australia can’t be added to the AIR, but this is under consideration and the TGA are looking into an acceptability criteria for non-approved vaccines.
If your documents aren’t in English, you need to get them translated. You can use a free translating service on the on the Department of Home Affairs website if you’re settling in Australia or if you’re already living here permanently.
You can keep up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccine developments on the Australian Department of Health website, including priority groups and who will receive the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and how the COVID-19 vaccines will be distributed.
You can also:
• Download the official Government ‘Coronavirus Australia’ app in the Apple app store or Google Play; or
• Join the WhatsApp channel on iOS or Android.
If you need to speak to someone, the National Coronavirus Helpline is also available on 1800 020 080. It operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
