World Cup 2022 (at the moment)

Post by stattointhailand » December 7, 2020, 9:17 pm

Draw for European qualifiers at about midnight (Udon time)

Pot 1: Belgium, France, England, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands.

Pot 2: Switzerland, Wales, Poland, Sweden, Austria, Ukraine, Serbia, Turkey, Slovakia, Romania.

Pot 3: Russia, Hungary, Republic of Ireland, Czech Republic, Norway, Northern Ireland, Iceland, Scotland, Greece, Finland.

Pot 4: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, Israel, Belarus, Georgia, Luxembourg.

Pot 5: Armenia, Cyprus, Faroe Islands, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Latvia, Andorra.

Pot 6: Malta, Moldova, Liechtenstein, Gibraltar, San Marino

.UEFA's Executive Committee has deemed the following pairs of teams cannot be drawn together: Armenia and Azerbaijan, Gibraltar and Spain, Ukraine and Russia, and Kosovo and Bosnia & Herzegovina/Russia/Serbia.

Iceland and the Faroe Islands have been identified as venues with the "highest risk of severe winter conditions" and to limit disruption to the group-match scheduling, cannot be drawn into the same group.

UEFA has also identified 20 pairings - including Kazakhstan with England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic - as involving "excessive travel" and says that "in order to minimise teams' travel burdens a maximum of one such pair can be drawn in the same group".

So basically they have worked out what suits them (and their largest financial backers) so you may as well go to bed coz its all been fixed already

^ You mean Scotland will knock out England so the latter won't need to worry about playing Kazakhstan?

I love Kazakhs, especially the mini-skirted, petite blonde interpreter that I shared the back seat of a Moskvich 412 on a five hour drive from Kyzlorda airport to a remote work site to do a technical audit.

Umm, OK... she was Russian but the Kazakh vodka is awesome.

England will have to stop top players like Lewandowski and Klich.

Scotland get their usual p*** easy group but will be lucky to register a win.

Can't remember England having to make excuses too often as we usually qualify.

I agree however that Scotland are world leaders in taking pride in their drinking. Sad really.

Yep, those Scottish women are biters. I think it's because they get over excited when they see a real man as opposed to a skirt wearing nancy boy.

Ah yes, 1966 syndrome.

It's world class football we're talking about here, not the bloody Eurovision Song Contest!

Nothing at all wrong with being 100% comfortable in the place you deserve to be. England should try it some time. Save a whole lot of inevitable hand-wringin' an' greetin'.

Fixated much?

Scotland wins... get royally pished.

Scotland loses... get royally pished as well.

England wins... the "1966" comments start to flow like diarrhea.

England loses... calls for a government enquiry.

In Qatar
"Temporary visitors, including soccer fans, will not be eligible to purchase from the bottle store under the current rules.

While alcohol prices have dipped modestly in recent years, a pint of beer outside of happy hours commonly costs in excess of $15, with glasses of wine reaching almost $20."

"It is a crime to be intoxicated in public in Qatar and there is zero tolerance for drink driving."

Will have to have deep pockets for those want to attend

How much money will you need for your trip to Qatar? You should plan to spend around QAR633 ($174) per day on your vacation in Qatar, which is the average daily price based on the expenses of other visitors. Past travelers have spent, on average, QAR179 ($49) on meals for one day and QAR67 ($19) on local transportation. Also, the average hotel price in Qatar for a couple is QAR695 ($191). So, a trip to Qatar for two people for one week costs on average QAR8,862 ($2,434). All of these average travel prices have been collected from other travelers to help you plan your own travel budget.

That doesn't sound too bad considering we were charged 10 Euro for a beer in a bar outside Gard du Nord in Paris over 30 years ago .......... and it was bl**dy lager :-& AND it wasn't even served at room temperature it was bleedin' chilled [-X

A massive three points for Scotland in Vienna this morning. Taking all six from their last two games (and nil point for the Austrians over their last couple), this sees Scotland unexpectedly in second place in their group.

Denmark thrashed Israel to remain unbeaten at the top and the Faroes got their first win against.... Oh sod that, who cares. Tonight's all about,

Scotland!... Scotland!... SCOTLAND!...

Great result for the sweaties Tam .. a win is a win even when scoring a solitary goal not in open play but via a dubious penalty with a Dykes slipping it past the keeper nicely... the WC qualification dream is back on for the tartan army ..more tales of the unexpected.
