My point was/is, in the context of DrJames post, that in such countries its not usual to adress
Mr. or Dr. followed by a last name. I feel in TH its the same.
Ofcourse they can express their family names, most famous example perhaps: 'Osama bin Laden'.
If you dont know what his name means,look it up.
I stay now somewhere in Udon where I meet daily several John's. I just say John and II used to work in a place with several muslims as co-workers. Three out of five were
called Mohammed. So we started calling them by nicknames, by their family name or as Mo
number 1 or Mo number 2
think you would do the same.
