Suggestion re a "thank you" "thumbs up" button on the forum
I participate on a couple of other forums. They all have a "thumbs up" button (effectively a "thank you"), which members/posters can use to thank other posters for their post. It shows as a thumbs up alongside the quote and report post icons.
I think that would be a good idea for UM. It would encourage posters and help highlight posts which others think are useful/helpful.
Any thoughts?

An 'F you' button would probably get more use with us joyful lot.
But I do applaud your optimism .

A thumbs down button would get used a lot more. LOL!

What about adding a "thumb up" and "thumb down" smilie to the list?

What about typing "thanks"? Beginning to look like a bunch of bloody millennials with your lazy-arsed clicky emoji rubbish.

How typical, somebody makes a pleasant suggestion, you lot never miss a chace to bag it out. What a stack of pathetic individualas who love nothing better than to whinge.

There used to be a way of ascertaining how many people had actually read your post , that was destined to the scrap heap of useless information.
Although like many forums and FB and others , for posters a number of Likes etc would be pleasing as you can gauge how many have read and liked your comments.

No response from the owner or mods, if there are any?. Now there's a surprise. Not.

It sounds a bit too much like a Facebook feature, but the Map and its members, are definitely not Facebook. It's a nice try though to add something different to Udonmap.arjay wrote: ↑February 14, 2022, 10:51 pmI participate on a couple of other forums. How about writing a letter to the poster explaining your gratitude. The forum owner could rent a PO Box in Udon, collect the letters and hand deliver them to the intended recipient. Perhaps taking a photo of handing over the letter and posting it on the forum.
Alternatively a telegram could be sent if the poster does not reside inside the ring road.
My writing bureau does not get used like it used to, apart from the odd letter to the editor of the Sunday Times or a complaint to the Parish Council about the upkeep of the local duck pond.

Perhaps upon further reflection a button for the most moronic posts might be more in order.
I actually saw the "thank you" button being used on two forums frequented by intelligent posters. It wasn't on facebook.
As well as saying thank you, it also highlights and draws other posters attention to the most popular posts.
