Harry Ramsdens.

The original shop in Guiseley, not one of these franchise places springing up everywhere

Most coastal towns in Uk do ecellent fish n chips .Whitby n Scarbourgh 2 of the best and not a broom handle in sight 55

Haddock chips mushpy peas scraps n a mug ov tea..followed by a knickerbockerglory...
Magpie cafe for fish and chips in Whitby then, hop into the car, drive 20 miles south and Knickerbockerglory at the Harbour Bar, Scarborough followed by a few games of bingo. I did it last year. Might do again in next few weeks.Thank you Covid.

I have to confess, fish & chips in the paper with lots of salt & vinegar on a windy, wet seafront does up the ante a bit over Guiseley 🐠 ☔️

Actually Blackpool was my place, or Lytham if we were feeling posh. It was only an hour & ten away from home & forty minutes when they built the M55.

Pool harbour was the destination later in life. It’s funny, they used to host a big Thai festival on the seafront. Hanging onto a tray of noodles in gale force winds & pouring rain didn’t have the same ambience as here

I'd heard about this place from a few mates and had been to the Bookhouse quite often when it was open.

50% off on certain menus and certain days sounded like a winner.

Happened to be close to there, and a bit hungry, I popped in for a bite.

Monday is 50% off Chinese and ordered up the orange chicken, listed at 149 baht.
I expected the main meal to be nuked, but certainly not the rice, which made it hard.
4-5 chicken nuggets were hot on the outside, but cold inside.
Sauce was great, but not great enough to overcome the cold chicken.

I mentioned it to Nok, kinda just shrugged it off.

And the 50% off of the 149 baht selection................. came to 99 Baht. Figure that one out.

Doubtful I'll be returning.

She is inconsistent, same as the Book House. You aren't alone in not returning.

Fascinating.

Seems there were problems when she was a cook at the Brick House years ago, but anybody complained then, the forum members ripped into the one who complained.

I ate at the Country Grill recently, best Ploughman's lunch I can remember, daughter's Bangers and Mash was excellent, but wife's Thai prawns were a bit too salty for her to finish.

I would happily go back again, and when ordering simply ask to cut back on the salt. Looking forward to trying her Mexican food.

It is always amazing negative posts are frequent but positive ones are not. Not having eaten at the Country Grill, personally cannot comment, although previously in different locations the vast majority of meals served were excellent

As anefarious posted, very variable. I have had good meals there and some shockers. Nok does not seem to care one way or the other. A shame, with a bit of attitude change this place would be outstanding as she is very skilled

IMO sad to hear another establishment has opted for Aircon. When I first stayed in Udon air con bars/restaurants/music venues both farang and thai were a comparative rarity. I prefer sitting in an open air environment. Fans were perfectly adequate.

I only ever ate there once last year when it was still open air. The food was OK but not great. It was on the list to try again but never got around to it.

If some of the regular customers are disgruntled, have they shared their disgruntlement with the proprietor?

So those that commented on this before as being upset with the establishment it is time to move on and find something else to bitch about.

On another note and a tad historical she was the same when she was at Nong Sim , meals sometimes exceptional and then the same meal the following week iffy. Sometimes it was not her cooking I admit , however as the Boss one would assume the same standards apply everyday.
I cannot comment on her current location but it would appear the same situation as before
