Motorcycle event organisers apologise for allowing father to carry baby during big bike test drive
Source: Thaiger
https://thethaiger.com/news/bangkok/mot ... test-drive
Organisers from a recent motorcycle event are apologising for allowing a man to test drive a big bike while his baby was still in a carrier strapped to his back. An official from the event said people were allowed to test drive the big bikes on the track, but no one noticed the man was carrying a baby. The official added that riders were not allowed to exceed a speed of 50 kilometres per hour.
Photos of a big bike rider with a baby strapped to his back while at a motorcycle event drew attention from Thais on social media with concerns about the child’s safety. The baby, who seems to be just a few months old, was seen strapped to a carrier on the father’s back. The man posted photos on Facebook of himself riding a big bike, but removed the post after complaints from Thai netizens piled in, criticising the man as well as the motorsports staff for their recklessness.

Thais grow up carrying everyone and everything on their motorbikes, this guy never thought he was doing anything wrong. Big bike or small bike makes little difference.

OK.
Never said I agreed with it, I also don't agree with the whole family with kids and babies riding around on scooters and especially without helmets. This is Thailand.

It's Thailand. It's a cultural thing. It's their problem. Let them deal with it.

I started this thread as I thought the story amusing, I'm strange like that.

Don't worry I first saw that on an expat and Thai bikers page, everyone and I mean everyone was horified, you will always get a different response on this forum....

The funny thing is that the baby and father were much safer riding on a proper track than in the insanity of Thai traffic and roads. The pair probably arrived at the track on their little scooter with skinny tires and minimal brakes dodging the everyday mayhem yet people are so upset about him riding a much safer bike in a much safer environment.

What's it called again when people rage with righteous indignation on behalf of other people who fundamentally don't care?

Common sense comes to mind, or a parent being the caretaker of an infant... Thai's were outraged by this fathers actions, farangs on Udon map the minority...

In Pattaya, I saw a woman with three kids on a bike. This was in heavy traffic on Sukhumvit. The worst part was that she was taking on a phone.
